This is the chilling moment a pair of Rottweilers charged into a home before mauling two pet cats to death, leaving their owner and her children screaming in terror.

Mum-of-five Paisley was unloading the shopping from her car with her back turned when the dogs, who were off their leash with no owner to be seen, entered the property. Heartbreaking doorbell footage shows how her ginger cat, Dave, came to greet her affectionately just moments before his tragic end on August 30.

The 31-year-old starts unlocking the front door before jokingly saying to her pet: "Hello my beautiful boy, what have you done to your back again? I can't afford another vet trip Dave." Her eldest child then gets out of the car to help, when the two dogs run into the home and all hell breaks loose.

In a clip too distressing to show, hair-raising screams can be heard from Paisley and her children as they find the dogs have pinned down their pets, Dave and Oreo. The children were thankfully left unharmed, but are still having nightmares to this day.

Had they been in the paths of the huge dogs, they "wouldn't have stood a chance", said Paisley. She told Birmingham Live: "They just started attacking the cats, I do have two Chihuahuas but luckily I had put them in a crate before I left so they weren’t harmed, but the dogs were trying to get at them through the cage.

"My 12 year-old was in the kitchen when the dogs ran in, my other three were on the drive when it happened, I’ve come in and followed the dogs in and they’re attacking my cats in the kitchen, they literally got on my kitchen side to drag Oreo off the side, so obviously I’m trying to get these dogs off, they had Oreo pinned at the fridge, they were too big."

She said her kitchen was left destroyed by the attack, which killed one cat and left another with injuries it later succumbed to. "As my son went to get Dave they were scratching him, the vet said the dogs had damaged Dave’s eye and without an autopsy they don't know whether he died from internal bleeding or in shock. We found him on a grass verge round the corner."

Paisley continued: "I was screaming for help my neighbours next door, they’re elderly, she came round, but by the time they’d got round the dogs had gone and ran off." Police officers attended, but she claimed they were "of no help", and is still seeking to hold someone accountable.

She contacted the dogs' owner, but said: “I’ve had no apology from the owner, no one has reached out to me, it’s obviously heartbreaking what their dogs have done to us, they’ve not even reached out to say sorry or help towards vet bills, the vets still have hold of my cats they can’t even release them until the investigation is over."

Her family are now traumatised, and Paisley is concerned that nothing is being done to stop the same thing happening again or, even worse, to a human. She said: "If they get out next time who’s to say it won’t be a child? What they did to my cats, my children wouldn’t have stood a chance."

She expressed her gratitude towards YourVets Sheldon, who battled to save Oreo's life. Paisley said: "The state that we took Oreo in, he had a broken back and internally bleeding, they were really fantastic, they were brilliant with my children."

West Midlands Police confirmed that it has spoken to the dogs' owner, and that they will consider any further steps to "ensure public safety". A force spokesperson said on September 7: "We have asked neighbourhood officers to speak to the dog's owners regarding securing the animal, and will consider any further steps that need to be taken to ensure public safety."

In a previous statement, it said: "We were called to Raglan Way, Chelmsley Wood yesterday (30 August) to reports of two dogs attacking another dog. The injured dog was taken to the vets to be treated. The owners of the two dogs were spoken to and were taken back home to be secured by the owners."
