Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis fear they will be "cancelled" after the couple wrote letters of support for their former co-star and convicted rapist Danny Masterson, according to an insider.

Former That 70s Show star Danny was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the rape of two women. Mila and Ashton have faced heavy blacklash after it was revealed the couple had written character references for the actor prior to his sentencing. The famous couple later issued an apology video if anyone was hurt or insulted by their actions and explained their reasoning behind the letters.

Despite the couple's apology video, one source claims that the Hollywood couple fear that the future of their acting careers could be in the danger. The insider told The Daily Mail: "They legitimately feel like they are getting cancelled. With all the people railing against them, it isn't going to go away anytime soon, and they are feeling it. They are hoping as time passes, people will forget and or move on from their criticism."

They continued: "But as of right now, they are anticipating that the damage of it all might affect obtaining future work in film and TV."

This comes as The Ranch actor is already facing consequences for supporting Masterson - as Ashton stepped down from his position at an anti-child sex abuse organisation Thron. The 45-year-old actor sent a letter of resignation to the organsation this week. The charity, which fights for people who are sexually exploited, was founded by Ashton alongside actress Demi Moore.

In the letter, Ashton wrote: "After my wife and I spent several days of listening, personal reflection, learning, and conversations with survivors and the employees and leadership at Thorn, I have determined the responsible thing for me to do is resign as Chairman of the Board, effectively immediately. I cannot allow my error in judgment to distract from our efforts and the children we serve."

The Your Place or Mine star also faced recent criticism as an old interview from the 2000s resurfaced on social media. In the controversial video, Ashton said "we’re waiting for Hillary Duff and the Olsen twins to turn 18" with fans criticizing the interview calling his comment towards underage women "creepy" and "gross."

As the father-of-two continues to face scrutiny from the public, the couple still has a safety net in place as Mila continues to work for Fox's Family Guy as the voice actor for the character Meg. The actress has been a longstanding part of the hit animated show and has been the voice of Meg since she was 15 years old.

The insider told the Daily Mail: "One saving grace financially speaking. Mila's voice work will continue on Family Guy, she will have that forever. The cast and crew of Family Guy has her back."
