HRVY has revealed one fan tried their luck to meet him – at his own home, leaving him unimpressed.

The singing star who recently released his latest single, Stolen Heart is no stranger to getting up close and personal with his fans but this interaction was not what he expected. Since finding fame after presenting on CBBC's Friday Download, the 24-year-old has met fans all over the globe.

But while they're normally in specially organised meet and greets, he admits he was left hiding behind his front door when the fan and their parent knocked at his house. Speaking to the Mirror, HRVY said: "I've had people turn up at my house before and I've hid behind the door. My mum's been like 'Unfortunately, Harvey's not in right now' – that's probably one of the weirdest ones.

"It was her and her mum, bless them, they were lovely people but that was obviously a boundary and I was like 'Woah', the mum was like 'Oh my daughter needs to speak to Harvey, is he in?' I was hiding behind the door. I'm grateful for my fans, anyone who's ever supported me or streamed my music but that was one of those ones where I was like 'Wait, woah, what're you doing?'"

While HRVY may have been known for his music, he was introduced to a whole new fanbase after competing on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2020 and was partnered with Janette Manrara. During his time on the show, the pair were the first couple to receive a 10 from a judge.

But while he was single on the programme, admits that despite the infamous 'Strictly Curse' being real, he didn't fall victim to it. He explained: "Well the Strictly Curse is real, not for me, I definitely saw stuff happen, so it's definitely there. But it's all fun and games, it's all showbiz, it's all smoke and mirrors." He and fellow Strictly star Maisie Smith found their friendship being played out across the media, with rumours the couple got together – which didn't happen, although HRVY admits he played up to the pres.

"Play up to some of the press is always fun," he advised this year's line-up, adding: "You just run with the stories and go Yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna say anything. They say 'Did this happen with this person?' and you go 'Maybe', it was really fun, that's what I did, play up to that and have fun, that was actually a really fun part for me."

"We played it so well," he said of the rumours about him and Maisie. Reflecting on his time on Strictly, he said it was "hard, long, enjoyable, stressful and rewarding". The hitmaker added: "It was great, I met some amazing people and made friendships but it was intense, I'm not an intense person, I'm a relaxed person. I'm glad I did it, also glad it's over it's good to see how other people experience it."

Discussing his latest single, the popstar said: "I'm really excited myself because I haven't released in such a long time. I kind of had a little break which is needed and it's nice. It's nice to kind of be back on the music track again and have people listen to my music, it's fun and get feedback."

Taking time out of his career was essential for Kent-born HRVY as he explained the industry could be "mentally gruelling" at times, with artists often having "highs and lows". He said: "It's mentally challenging just thinking 'I've got to get the next song to do better than the last one, it's quite hard. I just like singing, it's difficult and it's nice to be able to take a break."

Having found himself back in the studio, HRVY returned with a bang, teaming up with Danny Shah and Dominic Lyttle, who have worked alongside Kylie and Jonas Blue. While he's been around for a decade, the singer admits he still finds it impressive that he gets to work with such big names. "It's hard to wrap your head around because you've got to impress these people and that's what it comes down to.

"It's also good to work with these people that work with these incredible artists and legends and when you talk to your friends, it's like 'Oh yeah, I worked with this person.'"

HRVY’s new single “Stolen Heart” is out now.
