An enraged Kylian Mbappe became embroiled in a war of words with Nice striker Terem Moffi as Paris Saint-Germain slumped to a dismal 3-2 defeat in their Ligue 1 clash.

Mbappe scored twice but couldn't prevent Luis Enrique from registering his first loss as PSG manager, having already drawn two of his previous four league games in charge. Moffi was the hero for Nice as he bagged their first and third goals on a memorable night at the Parc des Princes.

After celebrating his second strike to put the visitors 3-1 up in Paris, Mbappe appeared to lose his cool and was seen verbally sparring with the Nigeria international, who also set up team-mate Gaeten Laborde's goal shortly after half-time. Moffi didn't appear too fazed by the Frenchman's anger, with Nice centre-back duo Dante and Jean-Clair Todibo keeping Mbappe at a distance.

Experienced referee Clement Turpin intervened and attempted to ease tensions, as the game continued and PSG's superstar managed to score an acrobatic consolation effort. Ultimately the night belonged to Nice, who now sit above their hosts on Friday in the Ligue 1 table by a point, and matchwinner Moffi.

It was only Mbappe's fourth appearance of the campaign, as he was still out in the cold when PSG began their season with a 1-1 draw at home to Lorient. Parc des Princes chiefs were furious at the 24-year-old's refusal to trigger a contract extension at the end of last season, meaning that he's on course to become a free agent next summer.

Real Madrid continue to be heavily linked with a move but for now Mbappe insists that his focus is on PSG. The France captain has a difficult task on his hands, though, with Luis Enrique already facing pressure to improve on results in the opening stages of the new term.

"I'm happy with the team's performance, I really am," the Spaniard, who replaced Christophe Galtier over the summer, told Prime Video following the loss to Nice. "When you give 100 per cent, what should I be complaining about? We're entitled to progress, yes, we know that, but I'm not worried."

"It was very, very, very difficult against us. Nice hadn't lost. They play very good football. We tried to press them high up the pitch, which we did well, but they were strong. They took the lead with chances. We have to congratulate them, and we have to improve."

Nice boss Francesco Farioli, who's just 34, said of his side's display: "Beyond the tactical aspect, the pressing, I saw a team of warriors. We knew how to play several matches in the match, defend, recover the ball to project ourselves, we knew how to stay in it mentally, we knew how to read the situations, stay very concentrated. I would like us to keep this attention to detail to play other matches of this quality. We came here being humble in front of this team. This pressure, this intensity is part of our DNA."
