It's World Afro Day and as such, many people will be thinking about their hair and the way they style it - including Jordan Banjo from Diversity. The 30-year-old dancer has put a lot of thought into his children's hair lately as he's partnered with Curry's and Dyson amid new research that revealed nearly a third of dads with daughters have never styled their daughter's hair before, with one in three claiming it's a 'mother's job' to style their daughter's hair.

The dad-of-three has been learning new ways to work with his four-year-old daughter's curls and has even shared his own tutorial on TikTok for fellow dads who are struggling to do their child's hair in the morning amid the school rush. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Jordan explained that he's always been involved with doing young Mimi's hair.

He said: "I've always been involved with my daughter's hair, It's the perfect way to spend some time with your daughter, and when I first started doing it, she found it so funny because I could only do lopsided pigtails which would crack her up, but I've gotten better at it now and she's a bit more demanding about hairstyles."

The I'm a Celeb star went on to share how he loves that his children have very different hair, with his son Cassius having straighter hair and Mimi's being quite a similar texture to his own. And in recent times, his little girl has learnt to embrace her natural coils. "It's not a high Afro texture, it's low but she's got super curly ringlet hair, closer to mine than her mum's," he explained. "When she was younger she always wanted straight hair but now as she's getting a bit older and she comes down to our studio and sees loads of little girls there with their naturally curly hair, she loves it and wants to wear it down and have her curly hair out, so we use the diffuser to sort of get the curls going and I stand there feeling like Gok Wan, bunching up the curls and letting them drop, we have a lot of fun with it, it's nice."

He went on to share why he thinks it's so important for dads to get more involved with their daughter's hair, admitting: "I feel like it's a real shame that a lot of dads will just let their wife take control of it, which I did at first because I was nervous about doing something wrong, but there's no reason not to be getting involved and I think if you're a working parent, and you're busy you want to steal as much time with your kids as you can and this is something that helps you have that connection. So this project was really close to my heart.

"It can be stressful [doing a young child's hair], they want to play rather than having you brush their hair and it's not always perfect but it's a lot of bonding time and now we've got lots of nice memories just from sitting down and going 'right, let's do your hair'."

If you're keen to give it a go but aren't sure where to start with styling your daughter's hair, Jordan recommends speaking to experts and claims the team at Curry's gave him lots of advice about different hairdryers and products from Dyson. He added: "We landed on the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer for my daughter's hair, it's really easy to use and all that kind of stuff but essentially Curry's has loads of products, and people to help you so if you offer a little bit nervous, they can help you out."

And he has a handy tutorial online showing how he created adorable space buns for Mimi. He starts by washing her hair, before adding styling product and defusing the curls to enhance the ringlets. He then keeps two small front curls out and clips them to one side, before pulling each side of the hair into small space buns on either side of the head and securing them with a hairband. He adds some cute little clips in the front on either side and by the end Mimi looks thrilled with her new look.
