Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been denied his request to be released on bond pending his appeal.

In July, the 31-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. Her prosecutors considered this incident a part of "repeated and grotesque attacks". Despite pleading not guilty, the court convicted him of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a loaded. Plus, he was also given an unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence charges.

And since his sentencing, Tory asked a judge in Los Angeles to let him live with his wife and son outside of prison while his appeal plays out. However, during a hearing about his request on Thursday, a judge denied his wants and put his decision down to Tory's history of violating court orders as well as him not being a citizen of the United States.

Even when Tory's defence argued that the rapper was legally in America on an active work visa and had no reason to return to Canada, the judge was unconvinced. However, Ceasar McDowell, a member of Tory's legal team, reportedly told TMZ that Tory remains "hopeful for the future" after the judge denied him bond, claiming that while the decision wasn't in his favour, it was "all in God's plan".

The publication also reports that Tory is hoping that a higher court would be more receptive to his case rather than the trial court judge who issued Thursday's ruling. To recap, Tory injured rapper Megan Thee Stallion after shooting her foot after a summer pool party at Kylie Jenner's home in Hollywood Hills in July 2020.

The shooting followed a heated car ride that sparked an argument after the two rappers reportedly attacked one another's careers. At the time, the two were heading to their rental home in a black SUV driven by Tory's security guard.

The two rappers asked the security guard to pull over, and Megan exited the car. Tory then reportedly pulled a handgun and shot at her feet. After the incident, Megan had to recover in the hospital for four days and underwent surgery before going to physical therapy to walk again.

During Tory's sentencing hearing, the star, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete - had a moving statement read supporting all women who are victims of violence, which said: "He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma. This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence."

She later slammed her "haters" with a powerful message during her first performance following rapper Tory starting his 10-year prison sentence. During her set at Outside Lands Festival, Megan addressed the crowd and sent a strong message to anyone who didn't believe her or accused her of lying about Tory shooting her in 2020 and sent a special thank you to her fans that always stood by her side.

The Savage singer said: Megan said "f*** all my haters," and added: "None of that s*** you was doing or saying broke me. And I want all of the Hotties to put they mothaf***ing middle fingers up right now."
