A picturesque town on a river boasts beautiful scenery, a rich history and one of the best tearooms in the UK.

With only around 10,000 residents, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, is comprised of historic buildings dating back to the Roman era. Tourists enjoy the architecture, extensive choice of pubs and restaurants and other independent businesses.

Of these includes Bridge Tea Rooms, in the heart of the town, which according to The Culture Ties, is one of the best in the UK. It is praised for its relaxing atmosphere as classical music is played throughout the eatery. It is rated an impressive 4.5 out of 5 on Google reviews - with more than 700 people gushing over the establishment.

The delicious assortment of scones, clotted creams, tartlets and teas and coffees have been widely commended at the eatery. Champagne is even on the menu, reports Express.co.uk. Bridge Tea Rooms has twice won an award for being the best tea room in the UK.

The small town, which is in the west of Wiltshire near the Somerset border, is on the River Avon. Several buildings in Bradford-upon-Avon date from the 17th century, when the town grew due to the thriving English woollen textile industry.
