The WSL transfer deadline is 11pm for domestic deals

At 11pm tonight (midnight for international signings) the WSL summer transfer window will officially be closed.

It's been a nonstop summer of movements and speculation with the majority of WSL sides, barring Manchester City, stocking up on at least five new recruits. Man Utd were the big movers on deadline day. The Red Devils have completed a deal for Everton defender Gabby George after activating her £150,000 release clause.

United have chased a full back all summer since the departure of Ona Batlle to Barcelona. Also arriving at Leigh Spots Village were Spanish World Cup winner Irene Guerrero and US goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Arsenal were also looking to add to their squad before the deadline, bidding for Australian midfielder Kyra Cooney-Cross from Hammarby but in a race against time to beat the deadline. Jonas Eidevall has made another injury hit season look unlikely with the signing of Alessia Russo following her contract expiration at Man Utd, as well as World Cup stars Amanda Ilestedt and Laia Codina.

Chelsea, though, have remained vigilant, seizing Paris St-Germain defender Ashley Lawrence and highly-rated USWNT striker Catarino Macario, along with a tranche of young talent for Emma Hayes to hone.

Aston Villa have touted one of the strongest windows, with Lucy Parker, Man Utd pair Kirsty Hansen and Adriana Leon, and England's Ebony Salmon all arriving at the club as manager Carla Ward continues her mission of disrupting the top half. United meanwhile responded to the loss of Russo by bringing in World Cup Golden Boot winner Hinata Miyazawa and Barcelona forward Geyse.

Goodnight

Goodnight and thank you for joining us for our live coverage of WSL transfer deadline day.

Deals needing international clearance could still be complete in the early hours, meaning Arsenal have a little more time to get Australian midfielder Kyra Cooney-Cross' move over the line.

We'll bring you all the reaction to deadline day tomorrow. And remember the new WSL season is now just over two weeks away. See you then.

THE WSL TRANSFER WINDOW HAS CLOSED

Big Ben has spoken. It has gone 11pm.

Bar the extra hour for any international deals, the WSL transfer window has slammed shut.

Only five minutes to go!

Let's hope the fax machines hold up.

In a few minutes the transfer deadline will have passed (although interntional deals get an extra hour until midnight)

Phallon Tullis-Joyce on joining United

“Today has been pure excitement for me," said Tullis-Joyce.

"Manchester United is such an historic club, that has already done so much in the women’s game. I’m so honoured to get this opportunity."

Can Manchester United complete a quadruple swoop?

To recap, that is three already in for Man Utd today.

The only question now is whether Melvine Malard will join Gabby George, Irene Guerrero and Phallon Tullis-Joyce through the arrivals door. Malard has undergone a medical at United, so it should be a simple case of getting the paperwork done in time.

DONE DEAL: Man Utd sign Phallon Tullis-Joyce on a permanent deal

A new goalkeeper is finally confirmed at United as the American joins from OL Reign.

Announcement from Man Utd coming shortly

We should have confirmation in the next few minutes on another arrival....

Man City analysis

The least active WSL club this transfer window is Man City. Gareth Taylor’s team have only made one permanent transfer addition. Earlier in the summer they brought in Dutch midfielder Jill Roord from Wolfsburg, previously of Arsenal.

But after so much upheaval last summer, a quieter window was perhaps needed in the blue half of Manchester. Taylor also has the added boost of Jess Park and Ruby Mace returning to his squad after being out on loan last season.

Don’t let the lack of activity fool you. They could be a real force this season.

DONE DEAL: Simpson joins Bristol City on loan

Bristol City have announced a deal to bring Jess Simpson in on loan.

The Man Utd youngster will join the Championship title winners for the season.

Bristol City women make late move!

Looks like the WSL newbies will get one more in tonight before the deadline.

DONE DEAL: Nicky Evrard joins Brighton

Brighton have confirmed a deal to sign Nicky Evrard on loan from Chelsea.

Women’s first team head coach Melissa Phillips said, “Nicky is a fantastic addition to the squad.

“She has been a standout performer at club level in Belgium, as well as on the international stage at both last year's Euros and the World Cup earlier this year.

“We’re excited to work with her and give her the opportunity to test herself in the WSL.”

No word yet on Kyra Cooney-Cross

Arsenal's late move for Australian international Kyra Cooney-Cross is still yet to be completed.

The Gunners now have three hours remaining to get a deal done. Nothing significant to suggest they will encounter any issues but the clock is ticking.

United not done yet

Fresh from completing a deal for Gabby George, United are still hopeful of getting two more through the door this evening.

The transfer of OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce should be announced soon.

Look away Everton fans...

How will Everton respond to losing George?

Gabby George was one of Everton's best players last season and will be tough to replace in January, let alone in the space of a few hours after her move to United.

Our sources indicate that there's no other movement at Walton Hall Park this evening ahead of the 11pm deadline.

Gabby George on leaving Everton

On leaving Everton after nearly a decade on Merseyside, Gabby George said: “I would like to thank everyone at Everton for my incredible and special time at the club.

“I joined as a teenager. Since then, I have played alongside world-class players, made friends for life, and played in some truly special occasions for this football club.

“I wouldn’t be the player and person I am today if it wasn’t for Everton. I will always be incredibly grateful for that.

“From every manager I have worked with, the players I have played alongside, the brilliant staff who work relentlessly behind the scenes, thank you.

“Everton will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish the Club and the outstanding supporters the very best for this season and beyond.”

DONE DEAL: Man Utd re-sign Everton defender

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Gabby George from Everton.

The twice-capped England defender, 26, was previously at United in the club's Centre of Excellence before leaving for the Toffees and becoming their first full-time professional player.

George is the cousin of former United men's star Jesse Lingard.

Birmingham set to sign South Korean icon

Second-tier side Birmingham City are expected to confirm the signing of South Korean legend Cho So-Hyun after she left Tottenham.

The 35-year-old midfielder, whose 18-month spell in North London recently came to an end, boasts a joint-record 148 caps for her country and featured in this summer's World Cup.

Earlier today, Birmingham also signed Brazilian forward Ivana Fuso from Manchester United.

ICYMI: Earps staying put at Man Utd

England hero Mary Earps won't be leaving Manchester United before tonight's 11pm deadline, it's been widely reported.

Last month, United rejected a world-record offer from WSL rivals Arsenal for their 30-year-old goalkeeper.

But Earps, despite being out of contract next summer, will remain with the Red Devils until at least January.

DONE DEAL: Brighton ace heads north

Brighton have confirmed that South Korean midfielder Park Ye-Eun has joined Hearts on a permanent basis.

Park, 26, signed for Brighton last summer but only made seven appearances last season, while she boasts 16 caps at international level.

United closing in on Malard

Melvine Malard is currently undergoing a medical at Man Utd. The Lyon forward will join on loan for the season.

Can the Red Devils land her, Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Gabby George before the deadline? If they can it will soften the blow of losing Alessia Russo and Ona Batlle earlier this summer.

Man Utd pay tribute to departing Thomas

Man Utd have released an online statement following Martha Thomas' move to Tottenham. Thomas scored eight times in 53 appearances for United, after joining 2021.

DONE DEAL: Tottenham sign Martha Thomas

The one we've all expected is finally done. Martha Thomas joins Spurs from Man Utd.

Time ticking for Arsenal

Arsenal still have seven hours to secure a deal for Australia international Kyra Cooney-Cross.

The Gunners will have until midnight as the deal falls into the international category, but fans wll want this done and dusted as soon as possible.

Will Cooney-Cross make the move or see out the year (and domestic season) at Swedish side Hammarby? The rest of the Arsenal team are currently out at a training camp in Germany.

Deadline day sightings

Not heard of many rogue deadline day sightings today so far. We need Marta in a service station McDonalds or perhaps Alex Morgan getting off a train at St Pancras station?

Neither of these are confirmed (YET)

Analysis on Manchester United

Only a few hours to go and Man Utd are likely to still get one or two more in before tonight's deadline. But as we stand has this been a good window for last season's WSL runners-up?

They lost Alessia Russo and Ona Batlle earlier this summer. But they responded by bringing in the highly rated Barcelona forward Geyse and Japan's World Cup Golden Boot winner, Hinata Miyazawa. With United also bringing in Evie Rabjohn, Gemma Evans and Emma Watson, will manager Marc Skinner be satisfied with their business?

A message from Birmingham City's newest signing

Ivana Fuso, formerly of Manchester United, has delivered a rousing hello to the Birmingham City faithful upon arriving at her new club, writing on X: "Absolutely inspired, by club management and coaching staff conversations & plans. Absolute delighted & very pleased to become an important part in the evolution of the club and will gladly accept this challenge with my full commitment and determination! #BCFC"

Was this is a good departure for Manchester United? Time will tell.
