'Riveting' new Netflix docuseries viewers are obsessed with

Netflix viewers have been left in absolute awe after watching new docuseries Spy Ops - with some even hailing it as the 'best' documentary they'd ever seen.

The eight-parter takes a deep dive into the world of geopolitics, with intelligence operatives from MI6 and the CIA sharing first-hand accounts of Cold War campaigns, spy craft and coups carried out by covert agents.

Spy Ops details politically controversial events, including Operation Jawbreaker - in which US troops swoop into Afghanistan with a mission to take down the Taliban in the wake of the atrocities of 9/11.

Other episodes look at MI6's attempt to retrieve a Soviet double agent from Moscow, as well as showcase a testimony from a man who planned and attempted an assassination on Pope John Paul II.

The series only dropped last week but has already received thousands of rave reviews on social media. Fans have taken to X - formerly known as Twitter - to sing its praises from the rooftops.

But not everyone was quite so keen

Nicolas-Patience Basabose said: 'Spy Ops is literally glamorising some states' criminal activities worldwide. Do they ever think of the people living and dying in those countries where they think anything can go during any operation?'

Green Hellion added: 'Spy Ops lacks some serious counterbalance. Like did anyone say: maybe we should get other perspectives? It's a great one-sided historical review. Those always go well.'
