Johnny Depp has spoken out about the support he received during his explosive defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

The Hollywood star, 60, sued the 37-year-old actress last year for defamation following a a 2018 article she wrote for The Washington Post in which she claimed she had ben the victim of abuse. Despite not naming Johnny in the piece, his lawyers said that he was identifiable as the person accused.

While a jury ultimately decided in Johnny's favour, the trial was not without consequences for him. He lost out on some huge roles in film franchises such as Fantastic Beats and Pirates of the Caribbean.

However, there were some organisations which stood by him during the defamation trial. French fashion house Dior continued to support Johnny throughout the case and he's now said he will "forever be in their debt".

Dior decided not to terminate Johnny's contract during his trial with his ex-wife. In fact, the fashion house even doubled down on their support, with the actor signing a seven-figure multiyear contract with him in 2022.

"They stuck with me through every single second, and that ups the stakes quite a lot for me: they trusted me, they believed in me, and they continued," Johnny said in a new interview. He admitted that he wants to thank everyone involved in making the decision to stand by him.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Johnny added: "Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down. I will forever be in their debt, I will forever be loyal."

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has been an ambassador for Dior since 2005 and he starred in campaigns for their fragrance Sauvage. Johnny and Amber's turbulent marriage, explosive breakup and highly-publicised trial was thrust back into the spotlight once again last month thanks to the release of the new Netflix documentary, Depp v Heard.

The show examines the dramatic court case which took place in Fairfax County, Virginia. An official synopsis for the new special states: "Depp v Heard examines the infamous defamation case that captured the world's attention as the first Trial by TikTok, and questions the nature of truth and the role it plays in our modern society."
