It appears Coronation Street's residents can finally breath a sigh of relief, as Stephen Reid's reign of terror on the cobbles is set to finally come to an end.

The deranged serial killer, played by Todd Boyce, arrived in Weatherfield in June of last year as the illegitimate son of Audrey Roberts, after a 15-year-long hiatus from the show. The 62-year-old actor quickly achieved his villain status on the ITV soap after brutally slaying three other characters, sending the fictional neighbourhood into a state of fear and keeping viewers desperate to know who's next on the hit list. It looks like Stephen's reign of terror will soon stop, however, following news that a farewell party was held last night in Manchester for Stephen actor Todd Boyce.

Todd wore a blue washed denim jacket over the top of a black top and black trousers as he was pictured at his farewell do. The actor gave a smile and a thumbs up to the camera as he was pictured near the pub where his farewell bash was taking place.

The actor has proven popular with his fellow soap cast members – despite only appearing in the show for a year – as a number of stars turned out for the celebrations. The swish do, hosted by The Dockyard Pub, was attended by multiple iconic cast members, including Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt), Julia Goulding (Shona Ramsey), Mollie Gallagher (Nina Lucas). Other Corrie stars to join the bittersweet party were Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, and Paula Wilcox, a.k.a. Elaine Jones.

Tina O'Brien opted for a casual all-black ensemble and styled her hair down as she smiled while at the swanky bash and Colson Smith appeared in high spirits as he was snapped wearing a black hoodie and cargo trousers, which he topped off with a cream gilet and white trainers. Actress Helen Worth, who plays the iconic Gail Platt, made a rare public appearance for the occasion as she wore a blue denim jacket, white top and light blue jeans.

Todd appeared to be in lively spirits during the send-off, posing for cameras with a thumbs up as he mingled with his castmates at the swanky bar.

The American actor, who has also previously starred in The Crown and Beaver Falls, wore a denim jacket with dark jeans and a black top for the emotional farewell, which took place just a 15 minute drive from the show's Salford studios. Corrie's actors and crew also gathered at the venue to watch highlights from the Todd's journey on the hit show before he makes his final exit.

Since arriving onto the cobbles last summer, Stephen has killed three people in the space of less than a year. He first took the life of Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost), Jenny's partner, after discovering that the civil engineer had interfered with his plans to steal from Audrey's inheritance.

Stephen confronted him on the Underworld balcony, before accidentally killing him during an altercation and stuffing his dead body into a wheelie bin to hide the evidence. A few months later, he murdered Leo's father, Teddy, by bashing him over the head with hole puncher. His third and most recent victim was Rufus Donahue, whom he drowned in a swimming pool to prevent the businessman from revealing he had drugged Carla Connors with LSD.

The gig may soon be up for Stephen, however, with reports that Leo's remains are set to be found on the building site Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) recently bought. Scenes of Todd filming Corrie scenes at an airport have also surfaced, leading fans of the show to predict that the devious killer could flee the country before he's caught by police.
