A disabled schoolgirl was seemingly kicked in the face by a fellow pupil in disturbing Snapchat footage that has circulated online.

In the horrifying video, captured on Tuesday, the girl lies on the floor screaming as she is apparently attacked at Moor Road tram stop in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

In the footage one girl is seen following the other, before she pulls her onto the floor and begins kicking her in the face.

The alleged victim is disabled, reports the Manchester Evening News. Both girls are thought to be students at Dixons Brooklands Academy, who said in a statement that they are aware of 'two incidents' and have 'acted quickly'.

The school confirmed they received reports of of a similar incident in the past week, in which another disabled student was also reportedly targeted. Police said they are investigating a 'fight between school children' but no arrests have been made.

Dixons Brooklands Academy said in a statement: "We are aware of two separate incidents that recently happened in the community. We have acted quickly to address both incidents. The police have been informed."

Kate Green, TfGM's TravelSafe Partnership manager, condemned the 'sickening behaviour', adding that the transport network takes a 'zero tolerance' approach to crime and anti-social behaviour. She said: "We strongly condemn the sickening behaviour shown by a young person towards another in this video, which is difficult to watch," she said.

"The TravelSafe Partnership takes a zero-tolerance approach to all crime and antisocial behaviour on public transport. Metrolink has an extensive network of CCTV cameras on all stops and trams we will do whatever we to support any police investigations into this matter.

"We also run an extensive youth engagement programme to educate young people about the impact and consequences of crime and antisocial behaviour on public transport and will be contacting the school that these pupils attend."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson told local media: "Police responded to reports of a fight between two school children at around 3pm on Moor Road, Manchester on Tuesday 12 September. An investigation has been launched by GMP's South District team and whilst no arrests have been made, enquiries are still ongoing at this time."
