My Mum Your Dad fans 'struggle to hold back tears' as Roger opens up about grief

My Mum,Your Dad fans were left in tears on Wednesday's episode as contestant, Roger, and his daughter, Jess, opened up about their grief.

Earlier this week, postman Roger opened up on the death of his wife, who sadly passed away a year ago after fighting breast cancer before being diagnosed with melanoma with the cancer tragically spreading to her brain. During Wednesday's episode, the contestants had to take part in a self-acceptance workshop where Roger, 58, emotionally said: "I do carry a massive resentment against cancer."

To which his daughter, Jess, 28, who was watching in the secret second villa, wiped away tears, saying: "It's just weird hearing him say it because he doesn't really talk about it. Everyone sort of knows who they are but they're missing one piece. Whereas his piece was taken, he's lost everything. She was his hype man, like, you know we were saying about his confidence and everything? He's a totally different person.

"He's always been confident and everything because he's always had my mum there telling him: 'You're a good looking man, you're my man' type thing. So he's lost all that! He said to me that he wishes it was him that had died instead of my mum because he doesn't think he's good enough to look after us without her. Whereas, she could have looked after us without him."

The other contestants' children then asked: "Do you think your mum would want him to move on?" to which Jess said: "We found notes that she'd left us afterwards, and in those, that's where she said: 'I want you to move on, I want you to find love.'"

Earlier this week, Roger emotionally said about his late wife: "She had breast cancer about three or four years ago and she got over that and we thought 'brilliant'. And then we were on holiday in Italy and I just looked behind her ear and it was irritating her, just a little spot behind her ear.

"And I said 'you need to get that checked Jo when we get back'. And she did and she got seen to really quick, and it was melanoma but she didn't know at that time that the cancer had gone to her brain. She said 'I'm very tired', I said 'come on I will put you to bed or do you want to go on the settee?'. And she says 'put me on settee'. And then I come in about half an hour later, and I should have just phoned for an ambulance straight away. And she basically never woke up again."
