Doja Cat fans are convinced the rapper delivered a hidden message to the audience with her demon-themed VMAs performance.

The rapper, 27, took to the stage at MTV's Video Music Awards last night surrounded by an array of dancers who were painted red to appear like demons. She was flanked by the controversially dressed performers while wearing a grey mini skirt teamed with a white shirt and matching grey blazer. She accessorized with a large pair of dark framed glasses and red stiletto ankle boots, wearing a long blonde wig tied in a ponytail to look like an office worker.

The routine drew attention from many critics who have accused Doja Cat of devil worshipping - but some of her followers have since alluded to a deeper meaning behind the epic show she put on. In fact many of her fans believe that she was sending a clear message with the artistry incorporated into the routine.

One fan took to TikTok to explain the theory further and said: "Doja Cat has a message for you and she is letting you know that you are focused on the wrong things in her music. Everyone is so obsessed with this demon stuff, but what's at the centre of it? That she's a businesswoman.

"Hello. The suit and everything - she is giving you a message. And literally, that is what her music has been trying to tell people. You are focused on the wrong things. You are focused on her ways and her image and all of this stuff and not really seeing the fact that she can really rap. I'm not sure if the marketing has really given that yet, but she's letting y'all know. Focus, pay attention to what is important."

Elsewhere on social media other fans of the star agreed that she was sending a message to her critics and her peers as well as her fanbase as they discussed her performance, which has been noted as one of the standout on stage shows of the evening. One fan wrote on X: "People Will Call Doja Cat A Satanist But Watch Horror Movies, Celebrate Halloween, Listen To Music About Sex & Violence. Y’all Most Likely Sleeping With People & Not Even Married. She's an artist."

More fans followed the sentiment with one adding: "Doja really said have a look y'all I mean business and I'm not to be messed with. What a performance she put on. Stole the show and then some."

Another posted: "Everyone talking about demons but Doja just proved her talent as a rapper and an artist and made it look entirely effortless. She's telling you all that she's not to be messed with."
