Richarlison will "seek psychological help" after breaking down in tears during Brazil's 5-1 victory against Bolivia on Saturday.

The Tottenham forward, 26, failed to hide his emotions after being substituted in the 71st minute of the World Cup qualifier at the Mangueirao. He failed to score during Brazil's convincing win and is enduring one of the toughest droughts of his career.

Richarlison hasn't scored for his country since the World Cup in Qatar, while he's found the net just once in 31 Premier League appearances for Tottenham. The former Watford star joined Spurs from Everton in a £60million deal in July 2022.

His international teammates have rallied around him over the last few days, with Matheus Cunha calling him a "great player" and Marquinhos insisting the goals "will come". The struggling striker will now seek professional help to solve his woes.

"I’m going to go back to England, to seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my mind," Richarlison told Brazilian outlet Globo.

"That’s it. Come back stronger. I believe I will be in the next (Brazil) squad, I will work for that. It’s about getting a good streak at Tottenham, this week I’m going to sit down and talk to them, I need a good streak, get the rhythm of the game."

Richarlison also admitted that he's been through a "turbulent time in the last five months off the field" because of "people who only had an eye on my money and walked away from me". Yet he insists "things are right at home" and is confident of regaining his form.

On his tears against Bolivia, Richarlison added: "I didn’t play a bad game in Belem. It was more of an outburst about the things that were happening off the field, which got out of control not on my part, but on the part of people who were close to me."

Richarlison does have the support of his colleagues, with Cunha's family consoling him after the Bolivia game. Cunha added: "He's a great player and we're close friends. I want him to be at his best because the competition for places is both against him and myself."

Marquinhos told reporters: "We know that for a striker it is very important to score goals and everything, but the role he played on the field, within the game, with movements, pressure, positioning, it was very important.

"Of course, the goal was missing to crown this beautiful performance he had in Belem, but with this style of play we have and (Fernando) Diniz's philosophy, I think many opportunities will come. We try to give him peace of mind because this goal will come."
