Pink has shared an important lesson with her two kids after receiving a rude message from an anonymous troll last week.

The US singer received an influx of kind tributes as she celebrated her 44th birthday on September 8, including ones from fellow music icons Billy Joel and Brandi Carlisle. Unfortunately, not everyone was so sweet to the Grammy-winner on her special day. One anonymous Twitter user took the opportunity to attempt to insult Pink, by wishing her a happy birthday alongside a photo of British comedian, Suzy Eddie Izzard – attempting to draw comparison between the pair. Pink was quick to call out the tweet, however, slamming its author as a "no one" after thanking them for the "good lesson in ignorance."

"I just showed my 12 year old daughter your post," the Pennsylvania-born musician responded. "I explained to her that I’ve never met you, I don’t know you, and I have no idea why you would go out of your way to be hateful. It was a good lesson in ignorance. Thank you. I still don’t know you. Congrats. You’re no one."

The So What singer doubled down on her decision to respond in a follow-up tweet, writing, "What a wasted opportunity here. There are so many pictures you could’ve chosen that were actually me that were worse than this picture, you nameless f**ko." She signed off the cutting message by calling the person a "dum dum" and urging them to "at least be creative next time."

Pink also explained she had re-shared the original trolling tweet to show her kids that "we are all occasionally treated badly" but that her "self esteem does not rely on the opinions of others" nor "how many tickets" she sells. "I love me," she added, before announcing she was off to sleep. Many of Pink's fans were quick to share their support for the singer in light of the offensive message.

"That’s right! You are loved and h8rs can’t do nothing," [sic] one person commented, while another said, "That's awesome. Your mental health should not rely on other people."

Pink has two children with her husband Carey Hart, daughter, Willow Sage, 12, and six-year-old son named James Moon. She has previously spoken about her conflicted feelings towards motherhood, admitting she didn't "really want to be a mom" before giving birth to her first child. "I didn't not not want to be a mom. But it just wasn't sort of on my list of to-do's," she said in her All I Know So far documentary. "I had Willow and, man, that saying of "watching your heart go walking outside of your body"... it's truly how it feels,' she said.
