Mum 'shoots son, 9, with BB gun after he bloodies brother's nose wrestling'

A mum has been arrested and charged for repeatedly shooting her nine-year-old son with a BB gun after the young boy got into a wrestling match with his brother.

Deputies with the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence at around 6.42pm after receiving reports of the child getting shot in the home.

An investigation into the incident found that the boy had been wrestling with his brother, causing his sibling to get a bloody nose during the scuffle, a release from the sheriff's office reads.

As punishment for hurting his brother, the boy's mother - identified as 31-year-old Katherin Rose Ewald-Conner - allegedly told her son that his brother could punch him or that she would shoot him with a BB gun.

It is unclear which option the boy chose but authorities shared that in an attempt to run away from his mother, the nine-year-old child was shot in the leg by her.

Terrorised and fleeing from the attack, the boy then reportedly took to the roof but was followed by his mum who also climbed on top of the home. Ewald-Conner then shot her son in the forehead with the BB gun, authorities said in the release.

Deputies at the scene in Fern Township, Minnesota, checked over the boy and identified wounds on his thigh and forehead. His current condition is unknown and his identity has not been released.

Upon confronting the mother about the incident on September 6, Ewald-Connor admitted to having shot her child and gave the weapon over to authorities.

The Becida woman was arrested and taken to the Hubbard County Jail before she was charged with a felony malicious punishment of a child and domestic assault.

The arrest comes just a few weeks after YouTuber mumRuby Frankewas arrested after an "emaciated, malnourished" child allegedly ran for help while tied up with duct tape.

The devout Mormon blogger, from Utah, had been arrested along with her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, for child abuse, with Franke's oldest child saying she's "glad justice has been served".

Franke, who had over 2.2million subscribers on her previous 8 Passengers channel, was detained on suspicion of two counts of child abuse, with the news coming after she and Hildebrandt had both faced criticism for how they went about parenting the children.

Mother-of-six Franke came under fire in July after footage resurfaced of her seemingly allowing her daughter Eve to go hungry after she forgot to make her own lunch.
