My Mum Your Dad viewers gushed over host Davina McCall as she kicked off the brand new series.

The TV presenter is the new host of the ITV dating show with a family twist which sees a group of single parents, who have been nominated by their own children, grab a second chance at romance. Davina not only thought up the idea bit pitched it to telly execs too. Her hard work has certainly paid off as viewers were impressed by the first episode.

They praised the former Big Brother presenter as one said: "Davina is so good at what she does." Another added: "I'm sold on #MyMumYourDad because they opened with music from Interstellar. And also Davina. Mostly Davina." Someone else wrote: "Give Davina a group of people in a house playing a game and she is in her element. Her energy and enthusiasm just shines through, it's giving me all that 2000-2010 nostalgia #MyMumYourDad."

A fourth gushed: "Awwww love davina #MymomYourDad." While a fan added: "Davina looks gud [heart eye emoji] #MyMumYourDad." It's not only the viewers who were impressed with Davina, as contestant Rodger cheekily quipped "Is Davina off the table?", as he searched for love on the show. The much-anticipated programme – dubbed the middle-aged Love Island – will run for two weeks every week night.

Nine single parents have been nominated by their grown-up kids to confront their fears and find love, while their offspring secretly pull the strings. "There’s no prize money. The prize is love," explained host Davina. She added: "It often happens in your 40s and 50s, where you’ve got children, life is complicated. But more than ever you’re at a point where you deserve to find love. Everybody deserves love but it’s hard to find."

Davina begged producers to do a midlife dating show for months, even writing biographies of five friends as contestant examples. She shared: "It was hilarious, I really went to town." She was then asked to host the UK version of this show, already a hit in Australia and America. Davina said: "I watched the Australian one with my mum and we couldn’t stop watching because of the cliffhangers. After four episodes, each 90-minutes long, my mum said ‘I’ve got to go for a wee’! Thank goodness this show is going daily!"

The show was filmed in what is known as The Retreat; an £8 million country house in Midhurst, Sussex, with a large driveway, tennis court, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, steam room, sauna, gym, spa, and hot tub. Locals gave it a cheeky nickname – Viagra House. Unlike Love Island however, there are cameras everywhere BUT the bedrooms. The idea is to watch "the hint" of something coming, shared Davina, not seeing the stars "jumping into bed with each other". The emphasis is on discussions and connections not ‘mugging off’ and silly games. Expect picnic dates not fireside bust-ups.
