Christina Ricci 'takes aim' at Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis' Masterson support

Christina Ricci has seemingly had a swipe at Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis' support for their former That '70s Show co-star Danny Masterson.

Masterson was jailed for 30 years this week after being found guilty of two rape charges. After several days of deliberation, a jury found the disgraced actor was guilty of the crimes on May 31, with the sentencing being finalised this week. The assaults occurred in 2003; during which time he was actively filming the series. Masterson was also alleged to have raped a third woman. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on the third allegation and the charges were dismissed.

Masterson had received letters of support prior to the sentencing from a number of people, including Kutcher and Kunis and Ricci seemed to join many others in criticising their to offer kind words about him. Kutcher had called him a "role model" and said "I do not believe he is an ongoing harm to society," while Kunis commended his "exceptional character".

But Ricci slammed the support, saying people who you admire can still do "horrible things". Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actress wrote: "So sometimes people we have loved and admired do horrible things. They might not do these things to us and we only know who they were to us but that doesn't mean they didn't do the horrible things and to discredit the abused is a crime."

She continued: "People we know as 'awesome guys' can be predators and abusers. It's tough to accept but we have to. If we say we support victims - women, children, men, boys - then we must be able to take this stance."

In a separate upload, Ricci added her own experience, admitting she has known a number of "awesome guys" who turned out to be abusive in private, revealing she too has had to deal with this. "Believe victims," she urged. "It's not easy to come forward. It's not easy to get a conviction."

Following a heavy backlash to their letters, Kunis and Kutcher have since released a joint video statement to apologise for any hurt their actions have caused. In the clip, Kunis said: "We support all victims. We have done this historically through all our work and will continue to do so in the future."

However, their actions haven't been met with praise from all angles, with one of Masterson's victims slamming the video as "insulting".
