EastEnders legend 'in talks to appear on I'm A Celebrity' after BBC soap exit

EastEnders star Danielle Harold is reportedly in talks to appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after leaving the BBC One soap earlier this year.

Soap fans will recall that Danielle's, 31, character Lola Pearce tragically passed away earlier this year on the BBC One soap after her devastating brain cancer battle. Danielle has since won several awards for her heartbreaking portrayal, including best serial drama performance at the National Television Awards, which took place earlier this week.

And now Danielle is reportedly "in demand" and has "caught the eye of ITV bosses" to appear in the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! A source told The Sun: "Danielle is at the height of her career and in demand after her moving storyline on EastEnders, but she’s really caught the eye of ITV bosses to appear in the upcoming series of the jungle.

"As well as being a talented actress with a huge fanbase, Danielle has a fun personality with a wicked sense of humour, which makes her the ideal campmate for the show. It could propel her into superstardom at an exciting time in her acting journey. Conversations are under way and producers are trying to lure her with a lucrative deal." The Mirror has contacted both Danielle's representatives and ITV for comment.

It comes as Danielle broke down in tears as she took home a National Television Award earlier this week. The actress was awarded the best Serial Drama Performance at television's biggest night. Danielle was up against other huge soap stars but managed to impress the voting public with her portrayal of Lola in the BBC soap.

Earlier this year, viewers watched emotional scenes at Lola's funeral as her white coffin was carried into the service, with messages from her friends and family written on the sides. Lola's daughter Lexi showed everyone a video she had made, featuring clips of Lola from before and during her brain tumour diagnoses. Lola was diagnosed with the illness last year, and soon learned she didn't have long to live.

Speaking ahead of the scenes airing back in June, Danielle told The Mirror and other press about filming her final scenes as the much-loved character that it was one of the hardest things she has ever had to do.
