Corrie's Alan Halsall in tears as he sends daughter to school on her birthday

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall was in tears after sending his beloved daughter Sienna off to school on her 10th birthday.

Alan Halsall, best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs on the long-running ITV show, took to Instagram yesterday to share the special milestone with his 234k followers. The iconic soap actor and his ex-wife Lucy Jo Hudson, who portrayed Katy Harris on Corrie, welcomed Sienna on 8 September, 2013, nine days after her due date. The couple divorced in 2018, however, after nine years of marriage.

Lucy-Jo moved on with with theatre company owner Lewis Devine, with whom she has a three-year-old son named Carter. Alan has also since found a romantic companion again in Tisha Merry, whom he met on Corrie in 2019.

On Thursday, Alan shared a photo on his Instagram story of Sienna wearing her school uniform and a pink backpack with a badge that reads, "It's my birthday!". He then confessed his tears as the soap actor wrote below the image: "Off to school with my double digit daughter" followed by a crying emoji.

He then posted two adorable throwback snaps; one of which shows the actor is seen cradling his daughter as a newborn baby and the other more recent image sees the duo enjoying a visit to Disneyland. Emotional Alan shared a sweet tribute to his daughter as he wrote underneath the nostalgic images: "The day you were born was the greatest moment of my life. I am so grateful that I have a daughter as honest, beautiful, and intelligent as you. I am the proudest father in the world. Happy birthday baby girl."

Later, Alan also has reposted another birthday tribute from his friend and The X Factor star, Carolynne Willey – who is Sienna's godmother – which consisted of an image of the singer cradling baby Sienna. Carolynne wrote on top of the snap: "How was this 10 years ago! Happiest of birthdays beautiful goddaughter."

Alan regularly shares updates of his parenting life, taking to social media to give fans an insight into his family adventures. Sienna has recently followed in the showbiz footsteps of her parents, making her stage debut in July as Sandy in a production of Grease – put together by her stepdad Lewis Devine’s theatre company. Alan's ex Lucy gushed over her daughter's achievement as she revealed her son Carter was also in the production.

Posting photos of the show on Instagram in July, she gushed: "Wow what a night Last night I was bursting with pride watching both my babies on stage @sthelenstheatreroyal Sienna playing her 1st lead role as “Sandy” in Grease, and Carter being on his “daddy’s stage” (as he calls it) for the very first time at the age of 3!!!"

Alan has spoken candidly about his experience of co-parenting with Lucy in the past as he previously told OK! magazine: "There's always going to be ups and downs with a blended family. So long as Sienna comes first in all of it, that's all that matters. Sienna's got her mum and her dad, and she's also got Lewis and Tisha." He also confessed that he doesn't have a "great deal of communication" with ex Lucy.
