Gogglebox stars shares their sadness as Stephen Webb quits show after 10 years

Gogglebox's Stephen Webb 'upset' his fellow co-stars when he announced he and his husband Daniel Lustig-Webb quit the Channel 4 series after 10 years.

Stephen took to his social media page to reveal the couple had decided to explore other opportunities. In a statement, they said: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.

"We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show. We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them and of course, the fans, Thank you for all of your love and support over the years."

Fellow Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley were 'upset' by the news and took to the comment section to write: "Aww that's upset me and shirley, to think your finishing but we all take different paths you both take care lots of love dave and shirley." Fan favourites Jenny and Lee wished the duo luck on their future endeavours.

"Good luck to you both we will miss you but if you feel the time is right it’s right no more PRE-AMBLES lucky t**ts [laughing face emojis] much love to you both. Jenny and Lee," they wrote. Simon and Jane added: "So sorry to hear this, Jane and I will miss you. Watching how you did it was super helpful to us newbies. And I will miss your quips about my hair! Best of luck with whatever you do next. Thank you for all the joy and laughter."

Co-star Sophie Sandiford commented: "Best of luck to both of you, you’ll be greatly missed! lots of love," while one heartbroken fan posted: "Awwww totally gutted , you are by far THE BEST couple on there , you be missed . However , good luck in your future ventures."

Gogglebox also released a statement about Stephen and Daniel leaving. It read: "After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show. As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years."

Show creators Studio Lambert explained: "We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects."
