Corrie's Sue Cleaver mortified after STI treatment mix-up at a pharmacy

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver shared with fans an embarrassing moment she endured at her local pharmacy when she mistakenly asked for medication for an STI.

The 60 year old star, who has been a household name since she appeared on the Weatherfield cobbles as Eileen Grimshaw in 2000, posted a video telling fans what had happened. Taking to her social media, she said: "Can’t believe I’m actually sharing this. I had to go to the pharmacy and it was busy and there was quite a queue behind me."

Continuing her tale, the soap icon and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star said: "And I went up to the counter and I said 'morning love. Have you got anything for an STI? I’m just starting with one." Before she had a chance to complete her sentence she burst out laughing."

She added: "What I meant to say was, 'Have you got anything for UTI? Because I’m just starting one.' Oh my god. I don’t know why I said it," she added. My hand’s shaking as I’m holding this." Sue finished her post saying: "Don’t get your letters mixed up when you need some medication!"

The actress then captioned another post said: "DON’T get your alphabet mixed up… MORTIFIED." Some of Sue's 149,000 followers found the entire situation hilarious. One wrote: "You'll be the talk of the town now Sue." Another fan added: " Aw bless you." A third person said: "We've all done it but so funny."

Sue recently appeared on Loose Women and revealed that she was rushed to A&E and ended up in intensive care. She told the audience: "I've had a really bad year. I had a hysterectomy in March and then a few weeks ago I ended up in A&E. I don't need to go into the details but it was a scary, scary time. I had surgery and then ended up in intensive care."

And while her news is shocking, it was her body transformation that caught attention from fans. Speaking to The Sun, she said: "I went on HRT about a year and a half ago and realised I should have done that about five years ago. I was walking around in a bit of a fog and then I literally made some massive changes." Sue said that she put on "a lot of weight" by drinking wine in lockdown. She added: "Then I did dry January and I thought: 'I wonder what life would be like if I stopped completely?'"

Sue also cemented her position as a national treasure when she joined I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here last year. But if it wasn't for Covid and turning 59 Sue said that she wouldn't have joined the show. She said at the time of joining the show: "Doing I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! is never really something I considered doing before. But the pandemic happened and then this year, I have just turned 59 and so I decided for my 59th, I was going to shake things up a bit."

She added: "I realised I needed something that would challenge me and I thought this show would be good – and so that’s why I am doing it." But she called on the advice of her Corrie co-stars Jennie McAlpine and Simon Gregson who had entered the jungle in previous years. When she entered the jungle Sue had been temporarily written out of Corrie.
