Ramos walks straight into awkward Sevilla situation as ultras slam return
Sergio Ramos is facing a backlash from Sevilla supporters just days after returning to his boyhood club on a free transfer.
Ramos came up through the ranks of Sevilla's academy, before joining Real Madrid for £23million in the summer of 2005. The defender became a club legend at Los Blancos, winning five LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues before joining PSG in 2021.
He left the Ligue 1 giants this summer and turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League to join Sevilla. But his arrival has not gone down well at Los Nervionenses, with supporters from their ultras group slamming Ramos.
"As an ultra group of Sevilla FC for almost 50 years, we want to express our rejection of those who proposed this signing. We are not motivated by hatred or resentment, but by love and pride for our club, its history and its fans," a statement from Biris Norte read.
"We believe that the mere proposal of this signing was already a lack of respect for the values that have made us great, for the symbols and legends that have defended our crest, and for the thousands of Sevillistas who have suffered the scorn of this player in the past.

"We think that this signing benefits more the interests of some board members who neither understand nor comprehend what makes Sevilla FC great and who only look after their personal and economic interests.

Ramos had a number of run-ins with Sevilla fans while at Madrid, famously celebrating a brace at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the face of insults and objects being launched at him. And it is moments like that which have left Biris Norte hitting out at Ramos and the club's board.
"This statement is addressed especially to the Sevilla FC board, because we consider that, with each decision, they move further away from a model that respects our way of feeling the crest," the group added.
"We say it once again: dignity, values and respect for the crest and the fans are the basis on which an entity with more than a hundred years of history must be sustained. We are sick and tired of seeing how the directors and major shareholders of Sevilla FC prioritise their economic interests over what it really means to be a Sevillista.
"We want to make it clear that, contrary to what many have claimed, Biris Norte will not carry out any acts such as cheering strikes or insults to any player during matches. However, neither can we nor should we show support for any act that goes against the principles and dignity of Sevilla FC.
"We also ask the rest of Sevilla fans to live up to what Sevilla FC is all about, both in this matter and in others. In recent months we have seen what this fan base is capable of when it is united and fights in unison for Sevilla FC."
