A woman found guilty of murdering her "good friend" after they spent the afternoon at the pub, told cops who arrested her “I’m a nice girl”.

Learose Cheng was convicted of murdering Dylan Bacon after they spent an afternoon at the pub, and she cried in the dock as the unanimous verdict was delivered. The 27-year-old stabbed Mr Bacon, 39, eight times with a kitchen knife on March 14 last year, after they’d spent much of the afternoon in the pub together - including with her grandfather.

Police found Mr Bacon collapsed in a pool of his own blood outside a block of flats in Rock Grove, Liverpool and followed a trail of blood to Cheng’s home where she refused to open the door. Officers had to force entry, after which they found "extensive bloodstaining" on the floor of the hallway alongside a "large, bloodstained knife".

The occupant, who was naked from the waist down but wearing a bra, then "began shouting and screaming" saying "she'd been stabbed and was a victim". Her behaviour was described as "erratic", while she had a "small puncture wound to the top of her right thigh".

In bodycam footage shown during proceedings, Cheng could be heard screaming at police officers: "If you’re gonna shoot me, shoot me. Cheng was "initially uncooperative" and "refused to leave the flat". She was eventually moved into the back of an ambulance where she was arrested on suspicion of murder, at which point she replied: "Murder of who?”

Then, as officers treated the wound on her leg, Cheng said: "I’m a nice girl, I've done nothing wrong.” Cheng would later accept she had inflicted Mr Bacon’s fatal wounds but claimed she had no memory of doing so and that he had “stalked and preyed” on her.

John Benson KC told the jury during the prosecution's opening last month that Mr Bacon had suffered "eight incised wounds to his head and torso". Two were said to be "of particular seriousness", those being a "very deep stab wound to the upper right front of the chest and a very deep stab wound to the left of the upper back".

Cheng was accused of killing her “good friend” with a “large kitchen knife when he was a visitor to her flat". Just that afternoon, she had visited Hoggin's Irish Pub with her granddad, later moving to a second pub, the Old Swan, where Mr Bacon sat with them. During their time here, Cheng was seen on CCTV making "affectionate gestures" to him, including putting her arms around him and kissing him on the cheek.

However, after she was sick, she went to her grandfather’s home, as Mr Bacon moved onto another pub. Then, an hour and a half passed where the two’s whereabouts weren’t known before they were seen together on CCTV around 7pm. They arrived at her address, only for him to leave around two hours later with blood trickling down his back. Footage showed him "taking his final steps" before "collapsing and dying".

Around this time, Cheng had sounded an alarm which had been fitted at her housing association property - with operators on the other end calling 999 as a result. It was then police found Mr Bacon. Cheng later told the police: "I haven't murdered anyone, are you joking? Someone's tried to kill me. They've tried to murder me. The people who've stabbed me, I don't even know. I can't remember. The last person who was in was Dylan Bacon. I've never killed anyone. I wouldn't do that. I loved Dylan. He stabbed me."

She also alleged that Mr Bacon had stabbed her then "killed himself because he didn't want to go to prison". Cheng had sustained no other injuries and was discharged from hospital without being admitted. Under interview, she described Mr Bacon as a "family friend" and said they had "gone back to her flat for a drink". Cheng had then apparently "asked him to leave but he'd refused", after which he had stabbed her.

She told detectives that she "couldn't remember if he had any injuries and couldn't see any when he left the address" and "maintained he must have stabbed himself". The suspect also denied having stabbed herself in the leg.

Cheng was remanded into custody ahead of sentencing on Friday.
