EastEnders' Whitney's exit storyline 'confirmed' as another resident in trouble

EastEnders have seemingly confirmed Whitney Dean's exit storyline from the BBC soap - but it spells danger for another resident.

It has been confirmed that Shona McGarty is leaving the BBC soap soon, and it looks like we now know how she will depart her role - and if Whitney will finally get the happy ending she so desperately deserves. There had been concerns Whitney and Zack might split up, as he is keen to try for a baby, whilst Whitney admits she can't go through with that again following their loss.

However, it looks like Whitney's exit storyline has been revealed, as next week on the BBC soap, she ends up having a successful chat with the fostering service about the next steps. However, her and Zack are told that it would be better if they have their own place before they can apply and Whitney starts looking for a new place.

Chelsea is devastated by the news they're moving out, and she opens up to Denise about Whitney's decision. She invites Chelsea to live with her, but Ravi arrives and makes a suggestion that he and Nugget move in with her.

She is unsure about the idea, but Ravi is determined that they can take the next step and move in together. When Chelsea sits down with Whitney, she admits she's not sure about moving in with Ravi, but her friend says it would be good to take a leap of faith. Denise is horrified when she learns of Chelsea and Ravi's decision to live together and quickly warns Ravi that Chelsea will see through him.

Shona has decided to depart the programme after 15 years, but admits the decision was a tough one.

"I have decided to spread my wings and will be leaving EastEnders. I have loved my years in the show. I have been trusted with some incredible storylines and have made amazing friendships — and family — which will endure," she said.

She added in another interview: "It wasn’t an easy decision because I've made so many friends. I’ve seen people come and go, and meanwhile, Whitney has been one of the longest-standing characters.

"I've had so much fun and done so many storylines, some of which have been sensitive, and I've been honoured to be trusted with such heavy stuff year after year. So I'm going to be sad to say goodbye to my friends and family, but it was the right decision for me as I want to do other things. After 15 years, I’ve had a pretty good run!"
