Coronation Street fans will be left delighted for cobbles favourite Dee-Dee Bailey next week as new duty solicitor Joel Deering, played by Hollyoaks star Calum Lill, asks her out on a date.

In upcoming scenes, Joel invites Dee-Dee out for a drink, explaining that he needs to pick her brain about US law. Dee-Dee is left chuffed as she gets her books out but things soon turn awkward when a disappointed Joel realises that Dee-Dee doesn't see it as a date.

Later, Joel admits US law was just an excuse to ask her out and suggests they have dinner to which Dee-Dee is left delighted. However, things soon go from bad to worse when Dee-Dee admits she's busy for the next few nights to which a disappointed Joel hurries out, leaving Dee-Dee kicking herself.

Soap fans will recall that Joel star Calum played villain P.C. Carlton Smith in Hollyoaks in 2021. Viewers may also recognise Calum from his roles in Doctors and Holby City. It comes amid a slew of new characters on the hit ITV soap with fellow Hollyoaks star, Stephanie Davis, who played Sinead O'Connor on the Channel 4 soap, recently joining the cobbles as Courtney Vance. Viewers will recall that Courtney made her cobbles debut in July, alongside husband Darren Vance, and Courtney soon found herself caught up in a steamy affair with Aadi Alahan.

Elsewhere, Coronation Street is set for a new arrival on the cobbles in coming weeks as Hollyoaks icon Nicole Barber-Lane has announced she'll be joining the hit ITV soap.

Taking to Instagram, Nicole, 53, who played Myra McQueen from 2006 to 2019 on the Channel 4 soap, confirmed her upcoming cameo. The soap star first shared a teaser video, captioned: "Yes! Guess where I've been filming" with a camera emoji. Nicole then posted a slew of behind-the-scenes snaps on the cobbles, writing: "So if you guessed @coronationstreet you were right! Such a pleasure to do a little cameo.....look out for Ange in last week in September......"

According to Digital Spy, Ange is the boss of a cab firm who wants to use Webster's Autocentre and make the most of the garage. Ange is believed to appear in a three-episode arc for the "time being".
