Coronation Street fans are convinced Stephen Reid is heading for the exit - as he's booked another role.

Fans have been wondering what might happen to serial killer Stephen - who is played by Todd Boyce - after he was seen filming scenes at an airport. Viewers of the soap have wondered whether Stephen would get caught, or if he would manage to make an escape from Weatherfield just in time before he was rumbled by the police.

Todd has teased that Stephen's next target could be Tim, who is putting himself at the "most dangerous place". He said: "He sees Tim as an annoyance, but Tim has lulled Stephen into a bit of a false sense of security. Stephen’s arrogance has led him to underestimate Tim. What Tim is doing is keeping his enemy close by allowing him to stay living in the flat.

"I enjoy playing those scenes with Joe as there is so much going on between the two of them on so many levels. He isn’t planning on harming him but if Tim got run over I don’t think Stephen would rush to save him. However Tim is kind of putting himself in the most dangerous place with delving a bit too much into Stephen’s life. Tim is walking a fine line."

And now it looks like Stephen's exit is near - as he's signed up for a role in a pantomime this Christmas. He will be starring in Derby Arena's pantomime Mother Goose as Demon Vanity. Panto dame Morgan Brind will take the titular role of Mother Goose. The Christmas pantomime will begin on December 8th and run up to December 31st.

Todd revealed that however Stephen exits, he is hopeful that it will be in a "blaze of glory". He shared: "There’s no end in sight but I have a feeling he’ll get caught. I would like personally for him to go out in a blaze of glory, I don’t want him to disappear and go back. I want something finite because I think the audience is losing their minds.

"I don’t see anyone else on the horizon in terms of who could be killed, we’re not that far ahead so they could surprise me at any time. I was trying to get the grandstands on telly, I want to be the one who's killed the most."

He added: "But in a sense, I think he’s an accidental killer. When he first killed Leo, it was actually scripted to be more of a scuffle for the phone and then he went over. But I decided, 'Let's let Stephen have a little more to do with that.'"
