British girl 'raped 10 times' in Gibraltar as 25-year-old charged with attacks

A British girl has allegedly been raped 10 times in Gibraltar as a man is accused of carrying out the attacks.

Pedro Luis Garcia Vallejo, 25, has been charged with ten counts of rape of a child and one of sexual activity with a youth. He has been released on a £2,000 bail on Friday after being charged, Gibraltar Chronicle reports. The conditions of his bail state he is not allowed to contact the alleged victim.

The case was first heard on Wednesday before Stipendiary magistrate Charles Pitto, who sent it to the Supreme Court. Royal Gibraltar Police said Vallejo was remanded into custody but released on Friday.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A Spanish man appeared in the Magistrates’ Court this morning, charged with one count of Sexual Activity with a Child: Abuse of Position of Trust and 10 counts of Rape against an underage female."

A trial date for Vallejo has been set for later this month on September 14. The girl cannot be named for legal reasons but local media in the British Territory have reported her as being a British national.
