Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds showed his caring side as he surprised a supporter with a generous gesture at a Wrexham fixture.

The world-famous actor has gained a reputation for being a down-to-earth character since taking the reigns at the North Wales outfit in 2020. Alongside co-chairman Rob McElhenney, his hands-on approach helped the club to gain a cult following around the world and success on the field.

The comedy pair have been able to mastermind the club's promotion back to the EFL, while harnessing the support of the wider community. Proving that the supporters are central to their efforts, Reynolds also went to great lengths to make the day of one fan.

According to Wales Online, the 46-year-old superstar surprised one terminally ill supporter with his glove from the Deadpool blockbuster film. An eye-witness to the caring act said: "I remember when he gave the terminally ill fan his original Deadpool glove and he gave Fozzy (Ben Foster) his other one.

"And we're like: 'Hang on, what's that? He's got the Deadpool glove on him!' Like the actual original one from the film and he just gave it away. He is a very casual and nonchalant person, Ryan [Reynolds]."

‌True to form, the Hollywood megastar also has been known to make time in his day to ensure that supporters are left with a lasting memento. Describing another instance in which Reynolds showed his generosity, the witness explained: "He'll just come down from the suite and just sign a load of autographs literally 10 minutes before kick-off.

"He'll come down half an hour before kick-off and he'll just spend time down there with the fans talking with them and signing stuff. They are massive on the community aspect of the club, you can see that in the title parade, I think it has gone beyond a project, it's gone to their hearts the club, they are all in with it."

The Canadian megastar's dedicated take on the role as co-chairman has been chronicled on the hit TV series Welcome to Wrexham. Charting the club's whirlwind rise, as well as the ups and downs of chasing promotion, the show allowed fans to see Reynolds in a new guise.

Eventually, the team did achieve its goal of returning to the EFL after an arduous 15 year absence from the division. Last season, they saw off the challenge of Notts County in dramatic circumstances to be crowned as National League victors.

Reynolds and McElhenney made flurry of signings from the upper echelons of the EFL this summer including former Premier League mainstay James McLean. On top of this, they were able to add the experience of Milwall's George Evans and Arsenal's Arthur Okonkwo on deadline day.

In truth, their start to the season has been mixed, with the absence of talisman Paul Mullin having proven costly. They currently sit in 13th place in the League Two table after six games played following a crucial 1-0 win over local rivals Tranmere Rovers.
