Catherine Tyldesley spotted in tense call on doomed 40th birthday after cakegate

Catherine Tyldesley was pictured looking tense and downcast on the day of her cancelled 40th birthday party.
The former Coronation Street star, who played Eva Price on the ITV soap until 2015, was seen outside a gym in Manchester yesterday. Wearing a black outfit and orange sunglasses, she spoke animatedly in to a mobile phone which she held directly to her mouth. Her brunette tresses hang loosely over her shoulders.
The 39-year-old’s birthday isn’t until September 17, but it was revealed in a leaked email from an events company that she was planning to celebrate it earlier, on Friday September 1. However, it was reported that the mum-of-two scrapped plans to celebrate her milestone birthday after she was caught up in a nasty spat dubbed ‘cake gate’.

Bakery owner Rebecca Severs caused a storm when she shared an email from events company NVERLAND that claimed it was working on behalf of the actress and was looking for two intricate cakes for her birthday party, and suggesting social media coverage in lieu of payment.
Last week the Sunday Mirror reported that Cath cancelled the celebration in the wake of the row after facing horrendous trolling online. Sources told the paper: “Cath was blindsided by Cakegate and found the whole thing very upsetting so she’s decided on a quieter celebration. She doesn’t blame NVRLND, but the whole situation left a sour taste so she felt it best to call it off."

Cakegate kicked off last month when Rebecca Severs, owner of the Three Little Birds bakery in Keighley, West Yorks, received a request for two bespoke cakes and 100 cupcakes. She was told there would be no cash payment for her goods but as it was for a “well-known celebrity”, she would be rewarded in publicity.
Sharing her reply on , Rebecca said: “Unfortunately, as my mortgage provider doesn’t take payment ‘in the form of promotion on their socials’ and my staff can’t feed their kids with exposure on , I’ll have to decline your very generous offer.”

Cath – who is said to have been unaware of the email – later took to Instagram to hail NVRLND as an “amazing company”, and added: “I hope the cake lady got the exposure she was craving.”
