Celebrity MasterChef 2023 finalists unveiled as one 'gutted' star eliminated

Celebrity MasterChef revealed the 2023 finalists on Friday night with five stars sailing through to the final week.

During the latest episode, judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode were faced with the difficult decision of who to send home after the contestants were challenged to rustle up the ultimate airline food with a main course, side dish and dessert to be served in first class style.

In the end, Gregg, 58, and John, 58, decided to send through Amy Walsh, Wynne Evans, Jamelia, Max George and Luca Bish to finals week. However, the two judges then had to make the difficult decision of eliminating one star as they chose Marcus Brigstocke to send home.

Talking about his exit, Marcus said: "I'm not surprised but aww man I'm gutted. I've had such an amazing time, I feel very proud of what I've done and I'm genuinely thrilled for all of them. So sad not to be with them!"

Viewers were left gutted for Marcus over his elimination after he accidentally served undercooked pork to the judges during the challenge. He said over the feedback and his cooking blunder: "Devastated to be honest", adding: "It's a big mistake that, really big."

Prior to revealing the results, Gregg and John deliberated between Max and Marcus for finals week but decided to eliminate the latter with Gregg saying: "The pork was raw, you couldn't eat it."

Taking to social media, fans were quick to share their thoughts over the results. One person said: "What a shame. Marcus is the better cook but serving raw meat is unforgivable #celebritymasterchef" while a different account put: "Ah man Shame to see Marcus go. I loved him and honestly thought he was going to win! #Masterchefuk #celebritymasterchef".

Elsewhere, one person said: "Gutted for Marcus. #CelebrityMasterChef" while a different fan added: "Raw pork meant it was inevitable that Marcus would go, but it's a shame as he was good and clearly cared about cooking #celebritymasterchef."

It comes as Wynne moved viewers, as well as judges John and Gregg, with the poignant story behind his semi-final dish in a tear-jerking episode earlier this week. The challenge for the semi-finalists was to create a dish inspired by a personal memory, and Wynne chose to pay tribute to his Belgian grandfather, a war refugee.
