EastEnders fans firmly believe that they have worked out the reason behind's Cindy Beale's decision to stay in Walford - and it's not because of her love for Ian.

Viewers of the BBC soap were left in utter shock when Cindy arrived back in Walford 25 years after she was meant to be dead. And while the pieces of the puzzle remained slightly sketchy at first, it looks as though die hard fans of the BBC soap have figured out the reason behind Cindy's decision to stay in Albert Square.

Cindy, played by Michelle Collins, 61 and Ian Beale, played by veteran EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt, 55, were once married but their relationship was far from smooth. So much so, not only did Cindy cheat on Ian behind his back with heartthrob David Wicks, but she also had him shot but to her surprise, Ian survived. And fans now think very little has changed for Cindy and Ian, despite her claims of wanting to start afresh with him.

Taking to social media, keen followers of the soap have revealed their theory. One fan posted a message on Twitter saying: "Here's my theory! Cindy has dirt on Ian & now he's got his businesses back, in a couple of months she'll blackmail him for half of evcerything or she tells. He realises everyone was right & and she hasn't changed."

They added: "Cindy will ask George & the girls to move to Spain with her to start a new life, leaving Elaine devastated. She decides to leave Walford andf sells her share of the pub to Sharon! A couple of weeks before Xmas, besties Sharon & Linda toast behind the bar to a packed Queen Vic."

And while some may think that it is far too early to tell, many who saw the tweet clearly shared the same sentiment if their messsages are anything to go by. One fan responded to the tweet saying: "Crikey Cazza you have been busy - perhaps you should apply to be a script writer - you would make a preetty good job of it lol." Another penned: "That sounds plausible and oh so easties." A third said: "Good writing it should be like that." This comes after Cindy realised that Ian was hiding a secret from her about her second family - which changed everything for good.

Cindy reunited with her second family and rushed to be by her eldest daughter Gina's side after she fell ill and collapsed after taking drugs. Cindy, who was in a state of shock, asked Ian if he knew about her daughter Anna's voicemail she left for her a few weeks ago. Ian lied and claimed he didn't and accused Anna of lying.

But Cindy knew Ian wasn't telling the truth. She screamed at Ian and said: "You are lying to me. You knew she called me. Did you know George and the girls were living here? You knew, you bloody well knew!" Ian finally admitted to reading her messages and deleting the texts to protect her. But she told him: "I'm staying here for my daughters. And if you want to make up for what you've done, you're going to find a way to make that happen."
