Kanye West fans convinced he is making huge statement with his bold outfits
Kanye West has been ditching the footwear recently, with fans convinced he's sending a secret message with his fashion choices.
The 46-year-old rapper is currently enjoying an Italian getaway with his new wife Bianca Censori and the pair have been grabbing headlines with their bold clothes. While 28-year-old Bianca has been turning heads in her nude-illusion bodysuits, Kanye has also been causing a stir after deciding to walk around barefoot.
Kanye, legally known as Ye, first stopped wearing shoes back in January. At the time, he was snapped walking around in a pair of Sand Socks.
He's since gone one step further and opted to go without the socks. Fans believe he's trying to send a message to Adidas after the company cut ties with the musician.
Kanye and Adidas first began collaborating in 2013, but the company stopped working with the Flashing Lights hitmaker after he received a lot of backlash for a series of racist comments he made last year.
Kris Jenner blasted for giving Kim 'worst advice' on Kanye's erratic behaviourYe's sickening comments included hatred towards Jewish people and George Floyd, who was killed by former police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020. GAP and Balenciaga also cut ties with the rapper following the controversy.
Taking to Reddit, fans have been speculating that Kanye is trying to annoy Adidas following the collapse of their partnership. One person even suggested he was managing to "hurt" the famous shoe brand.
Another person wrote: "Ye is showing us that casual shoe wear, not like steel toe or useful shoes, is an unnecessary luxury and that socks are sufficient and comfortable. Over the long term this will kill the sneakerhead demographic, thus killing Adidas."
A third person agreed: "Not wearing shoes seems like a statement." Announcing the end of their partnership with Kanye, Adidas said they do not "tolerate anti-Semitism and any other sort of hate speech."
In a statement, they said: "Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness. After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy-branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect."
The German sportswear brand added: "This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to 250 million euro on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter. Adidas is the sole owner of all design rights to existing products as well as previous and new colourways under the partnership."
