Mum slammed for wanting to change son's birthday to one that's 'more convenient'

Christmas is the happiest time of the year, but for many adults and children around the world it can bring a major issue. There are some unlucky people among us that have their birthday around the festive season.

Unfortunately, this means they get a lot of presents all in one go or have the humiliation of getting a joint gift, which is the worst thing in the world as a kid. One mum has voiced her concern online for her son, who was born in December, saying that she wants to give him a fake date in summer due to the inconvenience.

However, this idea didn't land well with fellow parents online, who have labelled the idea as "ridiculous". In the post on Mumsnet, the concerned parent revealed the difficulty of her son going an entire year without presents. She wrote: "My son was born in December and I just feel like it's so hard for him to wait an entire year between presents, and then of course to get birthday and Christmas so close together, especially because his sibling gets presents conveniently around halfway through the year. Has anyone done like a fake birthday in June time for December babies? Or is that mad? Or any other solution?" She sought advice.

Users rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts on the proposal - with some quick to brand the ideas as "ridiculous". One user wrote: "I have two December babies and we have never had a fake Birthday as it’s never been necessary. Not sure why you need a solution to something that’s not a problem."

Another added: "Unless their birthday is literally Christmas Day I think you’re being a little ridiculous, sorry." However, a users quickly came to the women's aid to share a suitable solution that's used first-hand for inconvenient birthdays. The Mumsnet user penned: "We have a December child. We just balance it by buying summer appropriate things when they are needed and then don't gift our children masses for birthdays Christmas. Birthdays we then buy non seasonal items and don't spend masses," they added. "We do this for both our kids."
