Fitness guru Joe Wicks has defended his decision to pull five-year-old daughter Indie out of school, so the family can spend more time together.

The Body Coach founder revealed back in July that he'd started homeschooling his eldest daughter, Indie, who he shares with wife Rosie Jones. The couple have two other children - Marley, three, and 11-month-old Leni. In a new interview, 37-year-old Joe explained why he thinks school wouldn't be right for Indie, saying he doesn't think it fits into the lifestyle he and his family want at the moment.

He told The Times : "It's not like I'm saying, 'I'm going to homeschool my kids and go and live on a farm in the middle of nowhere.' It’s really just about our lifestyle [now]." He added: "I don't want to be someone who isn't present in my children's life. What I try and give my children is stability and love, and I want them to know I'm always there for them."

The dad-of-three shared his thought process back in July, when a fan asked him about his daughter as part of an Instagram Q&A. They asked: "What's been the deciding factor(s) for homeschooling?"

Replying over a photo of Indie smiling, holding a drawing of a rainbow and a star, Joe explained: "There's really nothing more to the decision than we just love being together as a family and want to spend more with the kids while we can.

"She had a great year in reception but we have always loved teaching the kids at home and want the freedom to travel more and explore the world." Adding that he may send Indie to school next year, he said: "We have no idea long term but want to do at least a year of home educating."

And the couple still want more children, with Joe admitted he 'loves the chaos' that comes with having a big family He's hinted he would have "four or five kids", but he did recently confess the transition to three children didn't come without its own challenges.

Baby Leni was born on September 8 last year. Announcing the news to his five million followers, Joe wrote: "It's a girl. Rosie gave birth at 4.32am this morning at home to an 8lb healthy baby in the birthing pool. Thank you to Emily & Helen our wonderful midwives who were there every step of the way. Time to rest now. Lots of love the Wicks family."

But the lack of sleep after their latest arrival left Joe feeling "stressed and frustrated". He told New magazine: "I'm used to getting eight hours. When I wake up and I've been woken up three or four times it really breaks your sleep."

Explaining he sees exercise as a technique to de-stress, he said: "I'm tired, I'm frustrated, I'm stressed when I wake up. My instant reaction is to move my body, to release it." Joe added: "I don't want to be on Instagram stories, I don't want to be Mr Motivator. I just want to have a big bowl of cereal, watch TV and go to bed, but I'm having to resist that."
