Jedward could be set to enter Big Brother for the third time if they have their way.

The Irish twins who originally found fame on the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009 have gone on to become big names in the reality television industry and have a string of credits behind them. Over the years, they've starred in their own documentaries as well and also appeared on Celebrity Coach Trip.

Since appearing on The X Factor, they have been ranked the fifth most financially successful contestants – and Edward joked that Channel 5 may have helped them. Back in 2011, John and Edward Grimes appeared on series eight of Celebrity Big Brother, before returning just six years later for Celeb Big Brother 19.

As the nation prepares for ITV to revive the iconic programme, the twins have hinted that they might be making an appearance in the coming months. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at Leeds Festival, where they were mobbed backstage, John said: "The first time on it was an experience and it was early days but by the time it came to the All Stars we knew how to go about it because the reality with Big Brother, when you’re actually there, a lot of those acts were pushing themselves like 'Oh let's go about this way, let's go about that way'."

His twin Edward added: "We're excited about Big Brother launching again this year, I think this generation watches Love Island, they were never on the Big Brother wave so hopefully we'll meet new characters, hopefully, we'll rock up at some point. We did Celebrity Big Brother twice!"

He went on to remind his brother that they appeared on the show when it was produced by Channel 5 as he joked: "They paid us loads of money to do it, I think we were the highest paid housemates ever, worth every penny." But while some may not have warmed to the twins, one person in particular, American Pie legend Tara Reid instantly took a liking to the Dublin-born stars in 2011.

Speaking about their friendship with 47-year-old, Edwards revealed that New Jersey-born Tara is "doing great" and that they almost landed work together on the same programme. "I think it's good to make a genuine connection and have deep meaningful conversations [on Big Brother]," said John, before continuing: "And for people to open up because a lot of people in that industry, they try to keep it sugarcoated, they don’t want to get deep and talk about what issues they have in life."

But Edward is beyond thankful to the bosses behind the show, saying: "I praise Celebrity Big Brother because we'd have never crossed paths with Tara if it wasn't for Celebrity Big Brother. Tara's quite edgy and cool and we were a bit poppy but we kind of gave each other balance, we've lived life and been friends for over ten years now," as John commented that the trio who lived together in Hollywood during lockdown were "opposite ends of the spectrum".

While details around the return of Big Brother have been kept under wraps, ITV bosses have teased some information about the programme. The iconic eye of the programme will, of course, be returning but it now features a mix of bold colours and symbols. AJ Odudu and Will Best are the new hosts of the gameshow. The pair will share the iconic hosting role on the main show, presiding over the weekly evictions and quizzing housemates on all of the goings on in the famous house. Presenter AJ will also be at the helm of a panel show spin-off for the channel, similar to Love Island’s Aftersun.
