When does the new Valorant Act start – here's when Episode 7 Act 2 is available

Valorant Episode 7 Act 2 is set to launch later today, with the latest season poised to bring a brand new map called Sunset to the game.

Valorant's last big update Episode 7 Act 1 was a meaty one, bringing Team Deathmatch to the game alongside the brand new agent Deadlock. Now we're rapidly approaching the follow-up act with Valorant Episode 7 Act 2 arriving this later today following downtime, bringing with it a host of new balance changes and a brand new map.

Riot Games posted some early patch notes on the Valorant website which revealed 11 Agents are getting tweaks with the next update. There are some minor tweaks – like Fade taking slightly longer to get her gun back out after using Prowler – which isn't likely to throw off too much of the character's gameplan. There's also far larger changes to characters, like Jett who has had a major nerf with Tailwind, Cloudburst, Updraft and Blade Storm all receiving changes (like Updraft's charges being reduced to only one, and Blade Storm's Ultimate points being increased from seven to eight).

Also arriving in this latest patch is the brand new Sunset map. A trailer for it was posted over the weekend on the Valorant YouTube channel after the reveal during the Valorant Champions 2023 final. Sunset takes place in Los Angeles and looks to be a lovely resort town with nice weather – the perfect place to chill out if everyone wasn't shooting at each other.

When does the new Valorant Act start?

Valorant Episode 7 Act 2 release time is Tuesday, August 29at 10pm BST / 5pm EDT / 2pm PDT, after a few hours of scheduled downtime beginning around 8pm BST / 3pm EDT / 12pm PDT. As you would expect, you won't be able to play the game at all during this period, so make sure to finish off anything important around half an hour before just to be safe.

When Valorant comes back from the maintenance you'll be treated to the brand new season. In the meantime you'll be able to check out the Valorant Episode 7 Act 2 patch notes which are typically released before the season launches.

According to Valorant leaker @floxayyy on Twitter Valorant Episode 7 Act 2 will run all the way until Halloween. Which means Valorant Episode 7 Act 3 starts on October 31, 2023.
