Ryan Reynolds cashes in on Wrexham success by launching new range of lagers

Wrexham AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds is set to launch his own range of football-inspired lagers.

The Hollywood actor is fresh from enjoying an estimated $100million pay-day after selling his American Aviation Gin brand for a deal worth up to $610m. In a move away from spirits, Reynolds is now looking to take on the world of beer, something football fans are sure to get on board with.

The actor is hoping to capitalise on the success Wrexham enjoyed last season when they were promoted back into the English Football League, as well as from the launch of the documentary "Welcome to Wrexham" which charts the club's success on and off the field.

Reynolds has already started work on his latest business venture with several names trademarked for the lager with the names granted for use in both the United States and the UK. "It’s Always Sunny in Wrexham" is among them, a moniker which is a play-on to Wrexham's co-owner Rob McElhenney's award-winning TV show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".

"R&R Lager" has also been trademarked with the obvious link of Rob and Ryan. "Max Effort Lager" is the final name that references Reynold's film production company and digital marketing agency, Maximum Effort. The lager isn't the only trademark Reynolds owns which references the Welsh football club. The Canadian and American actor, alongside McElhenney with their firm R.R. McReynolds Company LLC, is hoping to build a franchise from the club which is set to include a range of household goods, clothes and toys.

"Wrexham FC 1864" and "Wrexham FC" have been trademarked by Reynolds in the UK, with "Wrexham is the Name" and "Wrexham FC 1864" trademarked in the US. Reynolds and McElhenney have enjoyed a successful relationship since taking over the club in in 2021. The club was stuck in the National League at the time but has since been promoted to League Two.

Every step of the journey has been filmed and shown via the docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham' which give fans a unique insight into how a professional football club is run. The second season, which charts the club's title-winning campaign, will be released on September, 13.

Wrexham have enjoyed a mixed campaign following their return to League Two for the first time since 2008. The club sits 16th in the league table after one win, three draws and one defeat. The club will play Bradford City next in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
