Klopp's private feelings on Salah transfer with Liverpool's stance clear

Liverpool have slammed the door shut on any interest in Mo Salah.

With just four days remaining before the Premier League transfer window closes, the club has yet to receive ANY approach of any sort for their star striker.

And with boss Jurgen Klopp emphatic in suggesting the player is simply not for sale at any price, the Reds have made clear they will simply refuse to even acknowledge any approaches as the deadline approaches.

It is understood the Anfield manager is confident that the matter is now closed, with Salah showing he is happy and in form for the Merseyside club, in their dramatic and impressive victory at Newcastle.

Rumours persisted over the weekend that Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad were preparing a bid of around £130m for the 31-year-old Egypt star, but no such bid has materialised.

Klopp has made clear that doing any business - even for a huge fee - at this stage of the season, with the Premier League underway and the window about to close on incoming transfers, there is no chance he could consider letting any significant first team squad player leave.

Liverpool are also confident that Virgil van Dijk will escape any further punishment following his red card at Newcastle, despite speculation he could face a further charge after an impressive tirade against the officials.

The Reds skipper was seen to mouth obscenities at referee John Brooks and point his finger at the official as he brandished the card, then shouted “f****** joke” at fourth official Craig Pawson as he finally left the pitch.

With refs cracking down on dissent this season, Van Dijk as a high profile player could be used to set an example, but it is understood he said nothing which constitutes a serious offence, and is likely to escape further punishment.

The Premier League suggested on its website on Monday that the tariff would be a one match ban - which Liverpool will not appeal - and he will miss the game against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Klopp reiterated that he felt the decision to send off Van Dijk was harsh after the match, but admitted that he understood why Brooks had shown the red card.

"I don’t think it is a red card. It’s pretty much no contact, very little, and it’s on the way to the ball, but what can I say?" said the Reds manager.

"The decision is like this, I cannot change it and I don’t want it. It’s just, would I give this in a training game? Definitely not. There are reasons why I am not a ref and they are."
