John Ryder is gunning for a fight against Gennady Golovkin in Kazakhstan after his defeat to Canelo Alvarez.

Ryder, 35, took on Alvarez in enemy territory back in May but lost a one-sided decision to the Mexican world champion on the night. The Brit struggled to breath for most of the fight after suffering a broken nose in the second round, but he still managed to go 12 rounds and even won a few of the later rounds on two judges scorecards.

Three months on and Ryder is plotting his return to the ring as he wants to fight another big name in Golovkin. The 41-year-old hasn't fought since his decision loss to Alvarez in their trilogy fight last September and Ryder is willing to fight in Golovkin's backyard to make the clash happen.

"I'd love to fight Golovkin," Ryder told Mirror Fighting. "I know he's saying about another fight back in Kazakhstan and I've love to be in the opposite corner. I don't mind going into enemy territory, why not? A little world tour to finish off my professional career. We'll go to Kazakhstan for Golovkin and maybe to America for [Caleb] Plant or Mexico for [Jaime] Munguia.

"I'm not going to hold out on that though, I will get back to training in early September and then anything from October onwards will be good. I want the biggest and best fights possible now, I've not got too long left in this sport. The dream is to still become world champion but I don't have the time now to sit around and wait for opportunities."

Ryder may have been quiet on the boxing front but he's been busy with home life after recently moving house and sending his kids back to school. Now eager to knuckle down with his own career, Ryder is excited to get back in the gym to correct the mistakes that he made in his loss to Alvarez.

"I've learned so much from that Canelo fight, just how up a level they do things. Nothing is rushed, everything is planned and done with conviction. You think that you're having success but he's six or seven moves ahead, it lures you into a false sense of security. I know that I'm going to be such a better fight coming back from that loss," Ryder added.
