Sky News host quits after seven years with final broadcast airing today
Sky News host, Kimberley Leonard, has announced she's quit after seven years with her final broadcast today.
Announcing her departure on Twitter, now known as X, on Saturday 26 August, Kimberley, who first joined Sky News in 2015, revealed that she was heading for a "new adventure", sharing that her final air date would be Monday 28 August.
Kimberley wrote: "I'm leaving Sky News and heading off on a new adventure. More info on that to come - but please join me for #Breakfast tomorrow and mid-morning on Monday for my last shifts. And please do send pictures of where you're watching from."
Kimberley's 26.3K followers were quick to react to the announcement, insisting that she will be missed. One person said: "Good luck with your new adventures, Kimberley. Sky won't be the same without you", a different account put: "Wishing you the very best on your next one, Kim" while another person added: "Sorry to see you’re leaving @SkyNews Kimberley, wishing you all the very best for your new adventure."
The presenter also took to her Instagram Story to issue an update, writing: "Thank you for all your messages x I will get round to answering them all." Kimberley also penned alongside a snap from the studio: "Our military analyst, Sean Bell, surprised me with flowers on set to say goodbye!"
Sky News host chokes up as missing Nicola Bulley's family make emotional pleaIt comes after Sky News viewers were left shocked earlier this month after a naughty word accidentally aired. The awkward blunder happened during Kimberly 's Sky News at One show as she delivered a report on the "frightening rise" in cars being driven on the wrong side of the road on England's motorways.
After switching pages on her tablet, which was being broadcast on a large screen in the background, the TV presenter was asked to "accept" its cookie options and quipped that she trusts the official site of her workplace to be safe.
It was at this point that a large banner for the "Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare" theatre production popped up above a digital article, before Kimberley swiftly swiped to return to the site's homepage. Despite its short duration of time the advert was on screen, it quickly gained traction online.
The Sh!t-faced Shakespeare's official Twitter account responded to their sudden TV cameo, thanking Kimberley for the free press before joking, "Tickets at the door and cheque in the post."
