The dancer revealed in May that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and has undergone a single masectomy as a result, and began her chemotherapy treatment last month.

Sharing a picture of herself with a thumbs up and looking upbeat despite her health battles, she wrote: "And I’m going home to my own bed! Thanks again to the marvellous NHS! Got some blood clots but I’m feeling good other than a sore and swollen arm. Another hurdle along this journey. But again forever grateful to the nhs and my heroes around me. Can’t wait to get into my own bed since Monday though".

Throughout her health battle Amy has received messages of support from friends, family, fans and her fellow Strictly team. After revealing the devastating blow that doctors had found more tumours after her initial surgery, Amy received support from her fellow professional dancers.

After news of her second cancer diagnosis broke, Amy took to Instagram to share an inspiring and motivating quote amid her diagnosis which read: "Keep shining darling. You are stronger than you think. Even though you may doubt it, you will get through the hard stuff with grace, strength, and courage." In response, her Strictly Come Dancing co-star Dianne Buswell penned: "Yes you will." Michelle Tsiakkas also added: "Yes you will. Love you." While Nancy Xu Xi gushed: "Come on my darling girl."

Strictly show bosses revealed they had no plans to replace Amy while she continues her health battle. In May, a source: "They won't be recasting a replacement for Amy and even if she isn't well enough to take part in a full series, they'll strive to have her back showcasing her amazing skills in some form."
