One of the UK's biggest comedians, Jimmy Carr, has landed a job as the host of a crazy new gameshow after his BBC series was axed.

Battle in the Box will be the latest series hitting TV screens, airing on UKTV and Dave in the near future. The gameshow is based on the Korean series of the same name and has two teams of celebrities competing against each other in a brand new way for a grand prize

According to the description, the series has the teams living with each other in a small space while setting their own rules. The size of the living space and their budget to buy essential items are determined through a series of insane games and challenges. The more challenges each team wins, the more space they will get for their accommodation and the more cash they earn to buy essentials.

With the Korean programme heading to the UK, comedian Jimmy Carr was chosen as the star to host it. The eight-episode series will be made up of four double bills which will see eight pairs spend 24 hours in the box. The game will start off with the two teams moving into an empty space with nothing but a toothbrush.

They will only have the cameras and each other for company. Over the 24 hours, they need to win games set by Jimmy and to obtain things like beds, food, and other important items. As the box is only divided by a thin wall, it can be moved to make the area smaller if a team loses a challenge.

Jimmy said of the new show: "We all know comedians are at their best when they’re tired, hungry and lacking the most basic of human comforts. So, I can’t wait to see how they’ll fare in the box, with space at a premium and cameras watching their every move. What could possibly go right?"

Earlier this year, it was announced that I Can See Your Voice – which also starred Paddy McGuinness – was axed after several series. I Can See Your Voice involved an all-star cast of judges including Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Jimmy being tasked with correctly guessing the identity of the real singer as the contestants lip sync to their own voices.
