Pep Guardiola makes double transfer decision as Man City battle Saudi interest
Bernardo Silva has signed a new three-year deal with Manchester City - but Aymeric Laporte is off to Saudi Arabia.
City were worried about losing Silva, 29, with Jack Grealish famously pleading "please don't go" during their Treble celebrations. Saudi clubs were among those interested in signing the winger, but he will remain part of Pep Guardiola's squad for the time being.
The same can't be said about Laporte, however. The Spain international, also 29, has joined Al-Nassr to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane. He is the second City player to leave the Etihad for Saudi Arabia this summer after Riyad Mahrez joined Al-Ahli.
Although Silva is staying at City, there's a chance he could finally complete a dream move to Barcelona in a year's time. It's believed City have included a £50million release clause in his new contract, although it's unclear exactly when that can be activated.
That's according to Relevo, offering Barcelona fans some hope of an eventual deal. Silva has played a crucial role in City's success under Guardiola, scoring 55 goals in 308 games and winning countless trophies - including five Premier League titles.

City's director of football Txiki Begiristain added: "Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we’re delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the club. His quality and technical ability is fantastic - and alongside his hard work and professionalism, he has become one of the best players in the world."

Laporte, meanwhile, has left City after featuring in just 12 Premier League matches last season. He played 180 games in total during his five-and-a-half-year spell but fell behind Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji in the pecking order.
Al-Nassr have now formerly announced the transfer and Laporte has said goodbye to the City fans in an emotional video. "Dear Cityzens, today I wanted to share a story with you," he says at the start of the video before a montage of his City career.
After the montage, Laporte adds: "This is now our history. Thank you and see you really soon."
Laporte also tweeted: "It lasted for five-and-a-half unforgettable years. Plenty of memories that I will keep forever close to my heart."
