Scarlett Moffatt furiously hits out as trolls slam her over baby son's clothing
Scarlett Moffatt has hit out at social media trolls who criticised her over the clothing her young son, Jude was wearing in a new snap.
The star who previously appeared on Gogglebox took to her Instagram profile to share a snap of her son Jude, eight weeks, looking adorable as he posed for pictures with his family. But while the photographs were completely innocent, social media trolls found a way to take aim at Scarlett, 32, as she chose to allow him to wear a pair of soft-based crib shoes.
Scarlett explained that she and her loved ones had been enjoying some much-needed downtime as they celebrated a relative's birthday with one another.
Captioning her string of snaps, Scarlett penned: "How do I have a 2-month-old baby already!? Spending the whole weekend with my family for my Nanny’s 70th. We played bingo, did quizzes, and ate burnt sausages from the bbq it was perfectly imperfect. We’ve all laughed from start to finish & Jude even went in a pool for the first time."
Her post which has racked up over 48,000 likes was soon flooded with comments about Jude's shoes, but Scarlett later clarified: "Thanks for all the lovely comments- also these are the Nike soft bottom crib shoe they're not trainers." However, some fans supported Scarlett as one wrote: "@scarlettmoffatt he is adorable! Ignore the virtue signalling Mum shamers," others were quick to attempt to shut her down.
Gogglebox star shows off three stone weight loss in impressive year apart snapsOne person typed: "Beautiful picture but please don't put soft shoes on a two-month-old baby At that age they should only be wearing socks or babygro's he looks lovely and im so happy for you." The TV star responded: "They are soft shoes! They’re Nike crib shoes! I'm not gonna put trainers on my baby."
"Even when he starts to cruise around furniture he should be bare foot or in padder. Not a fashionista……does not need to be a fashion baby! Care of feet are so vitally important," wrote a second as Scarlett later clarified that they are crib shoes. Another mean follower penned: "Why do people feel the need to put shoes on a baby that young? We are forced to wear shoes for the rest of our lives from a certain age why make them wear them now let there toes be free."
In Scarlett's defence, another commenter typed: "OMG give over man. It's up to her my girls wore crib shoes and my healthcare professional never said nowt. Just aww they so cute." A second commented: "Is he your child?? No!!!! Butt out." Meanwhile, a third fumed: "Why do people like yourself feel they have the right to come on here and belittle a young first-time mum. She has repeatedly told you what type of baby shoe they are and anyway, it has nothing to do with you all. She has older family members who I'm sure will be on hand to give her advice when needed. I think she seems to be doing an amazing job from what I see. Do it your way, Scarlett."
