NFL fans have been able to get a better understanding of Aaron Rodgers' four-day darkness retreat after photos emerged of his time away from society to weigh up his next move.

Rodgers had spent four-days at a facility in southern Oregon in a 300-square foot underground cabin, in which he had stated he planned to meditate in without the use of electronic devices.

In the facility, images show that Rodgers had a queen-size bed, a yoga mat and a bathroom in the small room to unplug himself from society. This comes after his off-season exploits last year, when he admitted to using psychedelic drug ayahuasca.

The NFL star has not yet spoken since leaving the facility, but remained there for four days to try and get "a better sense of where I'm at in my life".

Rodgers' future in the league is currently unclear with the Packers reportedly keen to move on from him and acquire two first-round draft picks.

The Packers also have former first-round pick Jordan Love ready and waiting to start, and therefore have a reason to move on from the legendary Rodgers, who has been with the team throughout his entire career after being drafted in 2005.

Rodgers is still under contract in Green Bay after signing an extension last off-season, but could save the team millions if he is traded, with the Las Vegas Raiders being heavily linked as a trade partner.

The 39-year-old could even shock the NFL world with a retirement announcement, as he has refused to rule anything out at this point - stating that he would not do so until after his retreat.

When speaking on why he would go into voluntary confinement, he told Pat McAfee: "This is the thing that works for me. I've done many similar things to this.

"I haven't done this specific darkness retreat, but I've done many meditation retreats and yoga retreats, things that have stimulated my mind and helped me get in a better headspace and have a greater peace in my life."
