At the end of the 1990s, the Eurodance hit 2 Times seemed to be inescapable - with the track featuring soft, angelic vocals mixed with pulsing electro beats.

The song included an infectious chorus that was low on lyrics and set a president for music attempts that harvested sounds rather than words - pathing the way for the likes of Axel F by Crazy Frog the following decade. The genius behind number two charting single 2 Times had subsequent success with follow up hit Voices which reached number 27 in the UK before the singer dropped off to obscurity.

Now, more than two decades later, singer Ann Lee has been tracked down by The Sun - who have deemed her as looking ‘unrecognisable’ in comparison to her Euro disco heyday. Ann - whose name is Annerley Emma Gordon and she is originally from Sheffield - is now 55-years-old and lives in Italy after quitting the UK in 2005.

The chart star was known for her pixie-like vocals and very short, dark hair. While now the singer has choppy blonde locks and looks to be enjoying life in the European sunshine.

As well as writing her own tracks, Ann was one of the writers of the iconic dance son The Rhythm of the Night by Italian dance artists Corona. She continued to release music through the noughties with singles titled Ring My Bell, So Deep, No No No, and 2 People - but they failed to chart.

She also released two albums - with Dreams dropping in 1999 and So Alive being released in 2007. She leant her vocals to the song I Get The Feeling by the dance band Off Limits in 2009.

Ann previously opened up about her life and success with Eurokdj.com, telling the website: “There is no point in working so hard, even if what I do seems a breeze - and I know that I’m very lucky - if you can’t enjoy the fruits of your labour.

"I’d recently bought a house here in Italy. Well - a wreck of a house - it was practically rebuilt! And then decide to plan for a child: my son was born in 2005 and for the first two years of his life. I knew it was fundamental for him to have his mum around practically 24/7-hence the long pause.

“I would never have never given him to a nanny to go on tour - in my opinion the two just don’t mix - having said that, some mums just have to but I was lucky enough to have some time off - and I’d certainly do it again if necessary.”

She also explained that she struggled with her finances until she found fame in 1999 with her debut single. She said: “I was basically just trying to get by really-working with an orchestra, not liking it too much as 'musica liscio' or ballroom dance music is not totally my scene. It was great doing choral work every so often with Larry but until 2 Times came along it wasn’t exactly paying the rent.”
