Frankie Bridge has shared her husband Wayne missed her debut play performance as he preferred to attend a different show.

The former Saturdays singer took to the stage for the first time in the spooky play 2:22 A Ghost Story. It was Frankie's West End debut and with a packed crowd, there was one notable person missing. Former England footballer Wayne was no where to be seen, as Frankie revealed he was watching Liam Gallagher instead.

The Loose Women star confessed starring in the play was “ten times scarier” than performing with pop band The Saturdays. She is following in the footsteps of Cheryl, Giovanna Fletcher and Lily Allen with the role. Frankie, 34, said of Wayne's absence: “It wasn’t an issue for me. He had a Liam Gallagher concert booked and he and his friends are all big fans, so I was like, ‘I’ll let you off’."

“His whole upbringing was around Oasis and it was a small and intimate gig, but he came and met me afterwards," she told The Sun. Frankie also told The Mirror how her husband of nine years had been really supportive of her latest career move. “He loved 2:22,” she said. “The day before [my debut], I was barely able to eat and he was, like, ‘You always work yourself up, and then you pull it out of the bag’. Then, after the show he was, like, ‘I knew you could do it’. He was really sweet.” The singer has been married to Wayne since 2014 and they have two children - Parker and Carter.

Frankie replaced One Tree Hill actress Sophia Bush in the production after the American star withdrew from the show due to illness. On joining the 2:22 cast, Frankie said: "I’ve loved 2:22 A Ghost Story since I first saw it, so landing the role of Lauren is a total dream come true. Never one to do things by halves, it’s an honour to be making my West End debut on such a clever, suspense-filled production and I couldn’t be more excited to join the cast. Lauren is a joy to play with so many layers and emotions to explore. I can’t wait for you to meet her!"

She will perform from August until the end of the run on 17 September. Jamie Winstone will continue to play the role of Jenny from with Clifford Samuel and Ricky Champ joining Ray Winstone's daughter and Frankie on stage for 2:22 A Ghost Story. The plot is centred around lead character Jenny, who believes her home is haunted despite her husband Sam doubting her fears. The bickering couple argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben, before something strange and frightening makes its way into the room.

Cheryl surprised fans at the end of last year when she announced her debut acting job, after spending some time out of the spotlight following the birth of her first child. The star is thought to have earned £1,000 for every show she did - with a deal rumoured to be in place based on ticket sales which added to the Girls Aloud singer's pay cheque.
