Activision has revealed details on Modern Warfare 3 and the game is paving the way for what we want to see from future Call of Duty titles, including carry content, remastered maps, a zombies mode first, and more.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was announced last week via a short teaser trailer on Twitter, but more was revealed during today's Warzone live event, and the game is breaking a number of series traditions – for the better. For the first time in the history of the series, you'll be able to carry over content from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3. And it'll be a lot.

Activision describes the amount of carry over content as "vast", and adds that all weapon and Operator content players have unlocked, or that are currently available to players in Modern Warfare 2 will be accessible in Modern Warfare 3. Happy days!

In a first for the Modern Warfare universe, Call of Duty Zombies will be getting a new open world map, with players able to team up with other squads to fend off the undead hordes. It's being touted as the biggest zombies map ever, so fans of the mode have something to look forward to.

Modern Warfare 3 first leaked last month thanks to a Monster Energy blunder, and Activision followed up with the official reveal last week, marking another series first. Modern Warfare 2 players would usually have to wait for the series to come back around before they could dive into Modern Warfare 3, but this is the first time that Activision has released a direct sequel in back-to-back years in the series.
